The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 415

‘Because I already know what I want. I want to accept the affection and protection he gives me. Humans are selfish creatures… I know what awaits me if I return to the Jent family without Ethan. That’s why I can play dumb even if he still has lingering feelings for Donna.

Currently, I need Ethan, whether it’s using him or merely treating him as my emotional support. But I don’t feel guilty toward him because I genuinely want to like him and be with him,’ Madelyn thought.

She lamented, ‘But this is under the premise that I can accomplish my plans. Even if we part ways in the future, I won’t need to rely on others. Equity was never a part of the equation. In the future, Ethan will only see the Madelyn I want to show him. Relationships and marriages are the same. One cannot stop the other if they want to cheat.’

“No worries. I’ll get used to it eventually. Besides, I rarely leave the house. I spend most of my time at school. If anything, I’ll just ignore what others say.”

Madelyn acted mature and knew how to make Ethan happy. She glanced at the empty living room, She left?” “Yep. She has dementia and tends to wander around at night. I had Marta send her home,” replied Ethan.

“Is that so? She seems pretty lucid. I didn’t expect her to have dementia,” Madelyn said as she pushed him away. She continued, “I won’t be making the cinnamon oatmeal then. I’ll go back to my room and finish my homework. I’ve still got a bit more before I’m done.”

“Alright.”

Madelyn smiled slightly, “You should get some rest, too.”

“Mhm,” Ethan grunted in response. Ethan watched Madelyn as she went. upstairs, and his gaze darkened. He would rather she remained upset with him than act indifferent. At least then, he could tell she cared.

Just then, Ethan’s phone rang. He unlocked his phone to see a photo. The person on the other end sent an address before he could even send a reply. Madelyn returned to her room upstairs. She stood before the window and saw a car driving out of the residence.

‘What’s he doing going out this late at night?’ she wondered. Ethan glanced at the figure in the rearview mirror and then back at his phone. He felt a slight hesitance before he eventually sped off.

Meanwhile, Donna was at Supreme World. She was curled up in a corner, battered and bruised. Someone threw a bucket of icy water at her face, smudging her smokey eye makeup.

Another crushed her phone under their foot. The man leered at her damp, exposed chest and smirked, “Hah! How could someone like you know Ethan Arnold? Do you know who he is? Stop daydreaming. I’m telling you, it’s either you pay up or stay here and repay with your body. With those looks of yours, you’ll settle the debt within three to five years.”

“Boss, we’ve got news from the higher- ups. Someone’s interested in her.”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
