The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1185
“So what the hell did Mr. Jardin leave in his will that could have made Cecilia have someone wound you so severely? Let me see your wounds. It hurts me every time I see it,” Blake said.
Kevin started answering her questions while trying to piece together everything that happened, “On the day of the incident, everyone had the leisure of panicking, but I couldn’t. If news of Mr. Jardin’s incident were to spread, this would affect the millions of employees of Jardin Corporations, both overseas and local.”
Hearing him say this, Blake noticed that all this time, she sounded very immature. She always complained about Kevin’s coldness but kept forgetting how heavy his burdens really were.
“If it was truly for the will, it still doesn’t sound right. You’re Mr. Jardin’s most trusted right hand man, so why didn’t he just tell you? What intrigues me the most is what was written on the will. Could it be an inheritance?” Blake was still observing Kevin’s expression when she asked, “Do you know exactly how rich Mr. Jardin is? I’ve always wondered.”
Kevin asked her back, “Do you really want to know?”
Blake replied defensively, “I was just curious. Besides, I know Mr. Jardin’s rich, but I can’t even begin to imagine how rich he really is. Mr. Jardin gave Madelyn a huge, beautiful ring. It must’ve cost so many millions!”
“We’ll know when we find Madelyn, right?” Kevin said.
Blake continued, “But, if we were able to find Madelyn, Cecilia would’ve found her too. Then, wouldn’t Madelyn be in danger? If that’s really the case, Madelyn would’ve been better off waiting till Mr. Jardin wakes up.”
Kevin massaged his temples and thought, ‘What goes on in that brain of hers all the time?’
“Just get out. I want to rest,” Kevin ordered.
“It’s already so late, and you’re going to kick me out?” Blake argued. She was still wearing Kevin’s pajamas. She then shamelessly crawled into Kevin’s sheets and declared, “We’re sleeping together tonight. I’m exhausted, too.”
Kevin was still seated in the bed. Blake poked her head out and stared at him excitedly, “Aren’t you going to leave some space for me? I’m worried that I’ll hurt your wounds.”
‘How greedy,’ Kevin thought as Blake flipped over to her side and quickly fell asleep. She had been busy throughout the day.
In the middle of the night, a light was still lit in the study. Kevin covered his mouth as he coughed. He held a pen in his left hand, and his handwriting was neat and tidy as he wrote on a piece of paper.
While writing, he would occasionally stare at darkness outside the study with an unreadable expression. After a while, he had filled up a whole page. At three in the morning, Kevin finally sealed the letter into a white envelope with wax.
As the day broke, Blake had a nightmare. She dreamed of Kevin leaving her without saying a word and immediately woke up with a start. When she saw Kevin by her side, Blake smiled and held onto his arm before drifting back to sleep.
