The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 1104 by Max Charming

“Zach, what on earth can I even say to you?”

Yvonne was brought downstairs with only her eyes showing beneath her headscarf. She felt really scared when she saw the maids and her mom tied up like her. As the door opened, letting in a breeze, the sharp smell of gasoline filled the air.

Zach, in his anger, seemed determined to burn them all alive.

Frida begged, “Please, don’t hurt Yvonne.”

Tears started streaming down Yvonne’s cheeks, especially when she realized that Zach wanted to kill her again. She remembered the terrifying fire incident that had nearly scarred her for life, and now, she was scared out of her mind.

Kai quickly looked over when he heard the name ‘Yvonne’ and saw someone in a wheelchair. He was not sure if it was her, but that did not matter. What mattered was saving everyone in the room.

Kai could not believe how far Zach would go for Maddie. They were talking about the lives of over a dozen people. If they all died because of this, Zach could never make it right, no matter what he did. It would just be too big of a mistake.

“Maddie was right–the more powerful you get, the more you think you can do anything. She’s still not over the stuff that went down before, and now there’s more trouble.

“If people hear about what’s going to happen tomorrow, Maddie will definitely think you’re behind it. How long do you think you can keep hiding it?

“She asked me to check on you. Imagine if she showed up today. Do you know how much worse it could’ve been?

“Do we even need to talk about Ethan’s death? Maddie’s been blaming herself all along, feeling so guilty. She’s been looking for his kid in secret, trying to fix things.

“And you? What have you been up to? If they die too, I bet Maddie’s next in line. Kai continued, yelling, “What’s the hold-up? Let everyone go. We’ll act like nothing ever happened today.”

Zach glared at him. “This isn’t your problem.”

Kai shot back, “Alright, I won’t butt in. But I’m calling her right now to spill everything about you. Maddie’s got to know what you’re really doing.”

“You wouldn’t dare!” Zach’s words rang out loud and clear in the big house.

“Getting nervous now? Bet you didn’t expect this. Have you ever thought about how Maddie feels about all the stuff you’re doing?”

It seemed like it took a special kind of person to deal with Zach. All his past actions, and what he was doing to Madelyn now, were not really fixing anything.

“Nobody could keep you in check before, but now… go ahead and try.” Kai pulled out his phone. “Think it over. What matters more to you: venting your anger or Maddie’s feelings?”

Zach glanced at Kai briefly. “Just go away.”

“Hold on.” Kai turned and walked toward Yvonne, still bound. He gently lifted her headscarf.

Yvonne, looking fearful, tried to dodge Kai’s gaze. He did not care, scrutinizing her partially healed burns. Grasping her chin, he observed her.

“With these burns, it’ll be tough to look exactly like before,” Kai said. “Yvonne, I have an idea. I can help you heal, but you need to promise to leave Maddie alone. If not, I might just let your face rot completely.”

Yvonne avoided his gaze, but there was a glimmer of hope in her eyes. “Is what you’re offering for real?”

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
