The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1058

Madelyn smiled as she spoke, “Blake, don’t become a pawn in their power games. You’re a kind soul. Perhaps it’s best for you to leave Jardin Corporation. If Kevin makes it difficult, I’ll speak with Zach. And between Kevin and Liam, Liam is your better choice.”

Blake, still grappling with the complexities of office politics, listened intently. Madelyn’s insight into the power dynamics at play, particularly the unfolding rivalry between Zach and Cecilia, highlighted the precarious position Blake found herself in. Departure seemed like a prudent option.

Madelyn left after tending to Blake’s injuries and advising her to take care. As Madelyn entered a waiting Bentley, Blake sat there and tried to digest Madelyn’s advice.

In the car, Zach placed a blanket over Madelyn’s legs, his concern evident. He commented, “You care for everyone, yet you often neglect me.”

Madelyn, unfazed, replied, “You have plenty who’d dote on you at a moment’s notice.”

Zach drew her close and said, “Isn’t being with you around the clock enough, Mrs. Jardin?”

Madelyn spoke bluntly, “I don’t want Blake to be caught in the crossfire of your battle with Cecilia.”

Zach’s stern gaze met Madelyn’s as she warned, “Cecilia’s trying to prove she’s the right Mrs. Jardin. But the fallout affects more than just you two. You have responsibilities. People’s livelihoods depend on your choices. It’s risky.”

“Enough!” Zach snapped, his eyes angry. “I don’t need your input. Just be my happy bride, and I’ll handle Cecilia.”

Cecilia was always a formidable adversary in both love and business. She was not someone to be underestimated.

Madelyn wondered if Cecilia and Zach had a fulfilling relationship in the past life. Perhaps he had achieved his dream of a family. Otherwise, his vast fortune would have had no heir.

In this life, however, Zach was not fighting alone. In less than five years, he accomplished what took a decade in his previous life. Undoubtedly, Cecilia’s love for Zach was deep. Otherwise, her love would not have turned to such deep resentment.

Zach knew Madelyn was pretending to agree with him and preferred her to keep up the act. He was angry not because of an outsider but because Madelyn pushed him toward Cecilia.

Blake had an epiphany from watching two stray dogs fighting on the street. She grabbed the medicine Madelyn bought for her and stormed into Kevin’s office.

Madelyn Jent died on her wedding anniversary. She had been married to Zach Jardin for eight years, compromising for the better part of her life. However, she ended up being kicked out of the house. After the painful divorce, Madelyn was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Despite her deteriorating health, she clung to life in the hospital, hoping that Zach would visit her one last time. As Valentine's Day arrived, heavy snow fell outside. Yet, Zach failed to make an appearance, leaving Madelyn with a deep sense of regret. "Zach Jardin... If I could start over, I would never fall in love with you again!"

Miraculously, Madelyn found herself reborn to the time when she was eighteen. Fueled by the desire to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she made a solemn vow to distance herself from everything related to Zach. But fate seemed determined to test her resolve. Just as she sought to escape the shadows of her past, the same man, Zach, emerged with an intimidating aura, gradually approaching her step by step. His voice, reminiscent of a devil's melody, echoed through the hallway as he declared, "Madelyn, I'll take care of you for the rest of your life..."

Chapter 1 On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Madelyn Jent, a 31-year-old woman, lost her battle to cancer. Inside a room in SereneCare Hospital in Ventropolis, the air was filled with a strong scent of disinfectant. [Zach, the doctor inserted a painful dialysis needle in me today.] [I'm on the verge of death. Could you spare a moment to visit me?] [Please, Zach...] Madelyn weakly turned her head and glanced at the text messages on her phone. Despite sending multiple messages, she had received no response from Zach. IV drips were connected to her veins. Her face was pale, her eyes sunken, and her body emaciated. Cancer had ravaged her limbs, causing them to deteriorate. She was completely immobile, unable to perform even the simplest tasks unaided. The nurse assigned to care for her hadn't shown up for almost two weeks, citing that further treatment was unnecessary. Madelyn was sensitive to the pain, but in the advanced stage of her cancer, she had to suffer with it every day. The only thing that kept her going was her love for Zach. But now, her once overwhelming love for him had faded. She was left with nothing but a frail and ailing body. Madelyn switched off her phone and silently awaited the embrace of death. The pain had nearly blurred her consciousness. She reminisced about the eight years she had devoted to being Zach's faithful wife. But what had she gained in the end? One by one, those around her had abandoned her, leaving her alone and destitute. Madelyn couldn't help but think that Zach would perhaps feel the greatest relief upon her demise. With her gone, he no longer subjected to the sight of her face. He could finally satisfy his longing to bring Cecilia Samford home as his wife. Eight months ago, on Zach's birthday, Madelyn sat on the couch, anxiously waiting for his return. It was well past two o'clock in the morning, and the carefully prepared meal on the table had grown cold. Instead of Zach, it was his assistant who arrived, bearing a divorce agreement. The assistant delivered the news hesitantly, saying, "Madam, Mr. Jardin had no choice. The Jardin Corporation is a vast enterprise that requires an heir." Madelyn forced a pale smile. A few years ago, she had been pregnant, but an accident had tragically led to a stillborn child. Since then, she hadn't been able to conceive.
