Reuben POV
“Is she lying?” I ask my wolf instantly. “No, she’s an alpha alright! She’s keeping her aura hidden but it’s strong.” He responds to me.
“Fuck! A female alpha!” I growl to him. Vicky starts laughing from shock, as if Evelyn has just slapped her across the face.
“Excuse me?” Vicky snarls, as she takes a step towards the Silver Moon pack. The warriors buff at their chests, not appreciating Vicky taking a step closer.
“I suppose you are the Beta?” I spit out at Noah. “Yes, amongst other things…” He smirks in response to me.
What the fuck did that mean? That they were mates? But Candice was right, she still didn’t bear his mark. Was still being married to me preventing her from bearing his mark?
Jealously rises from the pit of my stomach, a motion I wasn’t used to. As Alpha King, what I want, I get. Yet I seemed envious of this beta.
Wait, if Evelyn is the Alpha…the boy I met… Rex was it? He said he was the alpha’s son and future
alpha. Was he Evelyn’s son? Did she have twins with Noah…
“You, you’re the one that has been forming an alliance against me, against this pack?” I growl, taking a step closer but it is met with hostility by her warriors. They all start to lean forward on the balls of their feet, preparing to pounce, whilst elongating their backs.
“Yes!” She only answers, her voice cold and very matter of fact.
“Why?”
O
H
“I have my reason…I’m sure you remember!” Her growl is demonic, like something born from the depths of hell.
What does that mean? She was the one that left me, that abandoned her position as Luna.
She continues like a Queen that is bored of small talk. She holds her hand up to calm her warriors before willingly walking towards me.
“In private! My men will remain out here.” She commands and I have to hide a smirk from my wolf finding her assertiveness surprisingly sexy.
She was certainly acting like an alpha, an alpha with big balls. She walks straight into the alpha house as if she still lived here.
My chest rattles as Noah and Donnie walk past me to join Evelyn. As Noah enters the house he freezes for a moment, sniffing the air before swiftly following his alpha.
“Nate!” I order at my beta to join us as Vicky already starts to join the Silver Moon Alpha in the house. With one last gaze at the Silver Moon warriors I order to my men that they are to remain unharmed unless they provoke us.
“Well this is a turn up for the books Evelyn, we all thought you were dead!” Vicky icily says, making no mistake in informing the female alpha how her sudden reappearance was a surprise.
“Really? Reuben trespassed on to my pack just over a week ago. Surely he informed you of my resurrection, no?” Evelyn glares at Vicky, who was standing next to me as I sat at my desk.
Evelyn was seated in the chair opposite me while her Beta and Head Warrior stand either side of
her.
Vicky’s face pulls as if she was in pain from Evelyn’s admission and I can smell some blood from her digging her nails into the palms of her now clenched hands.
“You’ve asked the Alpha King for a meeting, so here we are?” Nate, who was standing on my left, crosses his arms and starts to act like a dick.
“Careful Nate, she is still the Luna…” I reprimand him through the mind–link.
“She’s an alpha now, of an opposing pack that has been stealing packs from us. She isn’t the Luna Sir, she’s not been the Luna for four years!”
He was right, she wasn’t my wife…she was the enemy alpha that has been causing me a lot of problems recently.
“I have a feeling you aren’t here as per my letter?” I ask when I cut the link with Nate. This was about something else now, she has brought warriors to make a point.
She takes a moment to stare at me before she stands up and walks to my office window. She must check on her warriors as I hear her take a deep breathe in and a deep breathe out.
Her heart rate has quickened and her breathing technique is doing nothing to slow down her pounding chest.
This must be serious, serious enough for her to come here.
She turns, her face stoic again, she’s hiding something, something that is causing her a great pain. My wolf can feel hers, she is whimpering. How odd that he can feel her wolf. I can’t feel Vicky’s wolf. Is that because Evelyn is still the Red Stone Luna. I never accepted her rejection to the title, so she is still the Luna.
Her eyes flash to that of her wolf’s before they fall on me. I can’t read her, she’s cold…soldier like, brutal. She’s not the sweet kind Evelyn I was married to. The one I pushed away.
“My son has been kidnapped!” Her body trembles as she says the words.
What?” I gasp, unexpected anger rattling within me.
“He was taken from me.” She seethes out through gritted teeth.
“When, why?” Nate asks, gesturing for Evelyn to sit back down. But she refuses, she remains near
the window.
“Two of our warriors were escorting master Rex in a vehicle. The vehicle was attacked, our men shot in the head and the car was found upside down on a busy human road.” Donnie growls, his
hands clenching into fists.
“This happened on human soil?” I turned to Noah who tilts his head at me, not expecting my concerned response.
“Yes! I found evidence that we are currently looking into….and sent the note off for forensic examination.” Noah responds looking at Evelyn even when talking to me.
“There was a note?” I query before I am cut off from Evelyn.
“Where is he?” Her eye’s ablaze with a deep green, promising their own hell.
the
“Who…the boy? Why would I know?” My eyebrows furrow, what use would I have with the boy. Besides stealing children wasn’t how I did business, I didn’t hurt the innocent.
“You took him, I wouldn’t put anything past you Reuben. You’re a monster.” She roars which my wolf doesn’t take kindly to.
This was my pack, my office. No one dared to speak to me like that on my own lands. My wolf forces me to stand up, kicking my chair out from behind me.
“I wouldn’t touch your child, I’m not the monster you think I am Evelyn.”
“Oh no?”
“No!”
The air turns tense. Both of us making our auras known. If you could see them they would be appearing as dark storm clouds right now, that’s how suffocatingly close the air was in this office.
“Reuben, I am going to ask you one more time….” She places her fingers to the bridge of her nose to ease her frustration.
“…have you taken my son? Because if you have this affects you to and you’ll regret the day you crossed me.”
“Evelyn….” Noah’s voice sends a warning to her. A warning for what exactly.
“I have no choice!” She closes her eyes and looks up to the ceiling, as if expecting the moon. goddess to be in my house.
“OUT!” She roars to everyone, not taking her eyes off me.
“Not a chance!” Vicky scoffs next to me.
“I said OUT!” She finally unleashes her full alpha aura onto us and it was fucking fantastic. With every pack she took on in an alliance, her aura got slightly more impressive, slightly stronger.
Both Vicky and Nate look at me for orders, struggling under her command.
“You heard her out!” I commanded at them both as they left the office. Vicky seemed to struggle with leaving, her neck was fighting her to submit to Evelyn’s and also my command.
“Evelyn…” Noah tries one more time but she’s not listening to him.
“You and Donnie too Noah. I’ll be fine.” She orders at them both.
“Alpha!” Donnie nods as he follows her orders and heads for the exit, soon followed by a reluctant
Noah.
Once we are alone I open my desk draw and pull out a cigarette, I had no chance of quitting…not right now anyway.
I walk around to the front of the desk and prop myself up against it, leaning my legs against it as I
lit a cigarette.
I take a deep drag in, enjoying the way it heats my throat and lungs.
“Reuben….where is he?” She tries again but I was finding her lack of faith in me annoying.
“Like I said sweetheart, I’m not the monster you think I am.” I blow out the smoke in my lungs but little did I know her next words would cause me to choke on my own breath.
“Is your office sound proof?”
“For the most part, why?”
“Reuben…..my children….they…” She seems to be struggling to form a sentence.
“Spit it out swearheart!” I moan, her impromptu visit has already set me back now this afternoon having woken up late.
“My children, you are their father.”
