“Keep off main roads and towns. Stick to the countryside…”
“I get it, no cameras. What’s a realistic timeline just so I can use the money accordingly…”
He was talking like an alpha, is he an alpha’s son? Yet there was something else about him that I couldn’t quite put my finger on.
“A week for the date, the meeting will be in the next month. I’ll keep you informed.”
“Got it. And this is just intel? You don’t need me to get too involved?”
“No, these are alphas of well regarded packs…you won’t be able to attack them like the rogues in here…”
“You’ll be surprised. But fine, I get it. Data gathering.” He was very blasé with what I was expecting from him.
“Can we trust you?” Maybe this was a bad choice, he had some kind of aura of his own that he was keeping back from me..
“Yes, believe it or not I can be discreet.” He looks around the room and shrugs at his own mess.
“Fine, you are free to go. My men will drop you off on the pack borders, I expect them to return unharmed.”
“Of course Beta, I’m not a monster contrary to what you see here.’
“Your name?”
“You can’t repeat it…”
“I need to inform my Alpha..” Reuben would be certain to run some checks, as would I.
“Only him…”
“Yes only him.” I nod in agreement.
“My name is Anwir.”
“Anwir…what rank are you?” I push, he must definitely be an alpha’s son to hold himself so confidently in front of a beta. Even in front of the Alpha King yesterday.
“The thing is Beta, I would need to be in a pack to have a rank. But as I have been captured as a rogue, you can clearly see for yourself that I have no pack. So, a rank means nothing without a pack.”
Cautious of this male I decided to escort him off the Silver Moon pack grounds myself with two of my warriors.
My eyes didn’t leave him once. He seemed to be looking at the area and I was cursing myself for not blindfolding him, was he taking mental pictures of the surrounding areas? But then he entered the lands already as a rogue.
He already knew how to get here. But my wolf was feeling on edge, the Red Stone pack had taken to the Silver Moon counterparts fondly and I was no different.
I felt a certain level of protection against the Silver Moon pack as much as I did for the Red Stone pack. They were the epitome of kindness and second chances…even after having gone through so much.
They never let it get to them, they kept going, they believed in the good…that it will always out balance the bad.
“Here Beta?” The warrior driving mind -links me as he stops the car far out enough from the borders of the Silver Moon pack.
“Yes, here will do.” I confirm back through the mind-link.
“So we part Beta…thank you for your hospitality.” A sarcastic smirk forms on Anwir’s face as he opens the car back door and steps out of it.
“I look forward to hearing from you.” He seems genuine when he says this but why? Surely he will take the money and disappear…but something inside of me tells me differently.
Judging by the way he killed all the rogues, he wasn’t what he seemed, and let’s not forget the aura he was suppressing.
He doesn’t even run, he walks as if confident that we weren’t going to attack him. Or whether even if he thought we might, that we weren’t a threat…that he would kill us instantly.
“Shall we return Beta?” I tear my eyes off the woods Anwir has just entered, keeping off the main roads as he said he would.
“Yes…We have quite a job on us now.” I was now against time to get back and erase all evidence of what actually has happened this night.
The Silver Moon reputation can not be damaged by what has happened. Not one drop of blood could remain.
