94. Her Illness Sounds Similar to Tracy’s
Tracy ran until her feet could carry her no more.
She was almost out of LuxVille Residential Area when a car parked in front of her.
“Young Miss, get in.”
Tracy hurried inside the car, her rapid heartbeat easing down.
“I did the job as you said. Why are you like this?”
“It’s a long story.” Tracy took in a deep breath. “The good thing is that Heidi will never survive.”
“Are you sure just drowning her in Zach Olsen’s Villa is enough to kill her?” Drake started the car, looking confused.
“Oh, it will.” Tracy smiled. “Only I know Heidi’s illness. She won’t survive this time. And if news gets out that Heidi drowned and died at Zach Olsen’s Villa, won’t it be like killing two birds with one stone?”
But Lucas almost spoilt her plan. His action came out of nowhere.
Tracy shouldn’t be flabbergasted, but she was.
For the past few days, she’d been contemplating Lucas’s strange behavior.
It turned out her fears were manifesting.
But not for long. Heidi would die tonight, and all her troubles would come to an end. Lucas Harrison would soon run back to her.
She pressed into her phone and dialed a number. “Stella, get ready to throw a party. From now on, Heidi’s name will forever be history.”
At Phoenix City’s First Hospital.
Lucas sat on the waiting chair facing the emergency room. Tapping his foot patiently on the floor, his anxious eyes were fixed on the door to the ER.
In his eyes was also a look of confusion, wondering why they were taking hours in there.
His heart thumping and an uncomfortable sensation clogging up in his chest, he would stand then sit once in a while at the sound of any slight movement.
As the hospital staff walked in and out of the Emergency Room, Lucas became more confused.
Finally, the Doctor came out.
“What is wrong with her? Is she awake?” Lucas stood up.
The Doctor had on a crestfallen look. ” I’m sorry, Mr. Harrison.”
“Sorry for what?” Lucas frowned. “I asked you if Heidi is awake. She just drowned, right? She should be awake by now.”
“If it was a simple drowning, it would have been better.” The Doctor shook his head. “How could you let her go near the pool? She shouldn’t be anywhere near anything that can awaken her trauma.”
Every word the doctor said only heightened Lucas’s confusion. “What trauma?” He asked. “I only asked you if she is awake. Give me a straight answer.”
“It is because the answer I will give you would require explanations.” The Doctor understood Lucas’s anxiousness, but he was more surprised that Lucas wasn’t aware of his wife’s condition.
The Doctor just found out too, after treating the members of the Harrisons Household for years.
However, it shouldn’t be the same case for her husband, right?
“It is like this.” He tried as much as possible to explain in a simple way. Any close contact with deep water causes an imbalance in her system. Mrs. Harrison must have encountered a similar event in the past which must have caused the trauma. It is very traumatic that if care isn’t taken, there is a high chance that she will lose her life.”
The Doctor’s last explanation was like a bombshell to Lucas’s ears. For a few seconds, he couldn’t react.
It was as if something inside him had snapped, and the pain was unbearable. “And Heidi…” he trailed off, dreading the answers to the question he wanted to ask. “Is she awake or not?”
“No, she isn’t.”
The Doctor shook his head and Lucas’s heart sank.
“Fortunately, we were able to stabilize her system. Let’s give her until tomorrow morning and she will be fully awake. Right now, she’s safe.”
Lucas let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. He touched his chest, feeling his heartbeat easing down.
“But you must be careful, Mr. Harrison,” The Doctor warned. “Try as hard as you can to make sure a similar incident doesn’t occur. Everyone has a limit, and she might not be able to endure it the next time.”
The Doctor walked away, his warning resounding in Lucas’s mind.
Since when did Heidi contract such an illness?
Why wasn’t he aware?
Also, didn’t her illness sound similar to Tracy’s?
His thoughts were in jeopardy as he entered the Emergency Room.
Heidi’s eyes were shut and cold sweats formed on her forehead, sliding down her face. Lucas wiped away the sweats, his eyes raw with emotions as he stared intently at her troubled features.
Now and then, her forehead contorted into a frown.
Lucas smoothened the creases on her forehead. Several minutes later, he stood up and left, finally remembering that he’d left Tracy stranded at Zach Olsen’s Villa.
