Shouldn’t Mess Up with My Hidden Heiress Ex-wife Chapter 30 by HusnaS

30. Seeing Through Grandpa’s Schemes

Heidi ignored his warning look, rolling her eyes and keeping her attention on Grandpa Winston. As Lucas drove the car, she sat in the backseat with the Old Man.

“Heidi, remember that time we went to a dinner party? Your name wasn’t on the invite list but Grandpa squeezed you in. When you suddenly disappeared from the party, where did you go, silly girl?”

Grandpa Winston’s intention was to rekindle old memories.

However, Heidi’s remembrance of that event only increased her hate towards the man sitting in the driver’s seat.

Hadn’t Lucas pulled her out of the hall before she could even enter, then led her inside the washroom?

“Hehe, you went to fool around, didn’t you?” Grandpa Winston gave Heidi a knowing look, chuckling deeply.

Lucas stiffened, his fingers curling around the steering wheel. His eyes darted to the rearview mirror, scrutinizing Heidi’s expression and anticipating her reply.

Heidi gave the man a secret glare, before faking a bashful smile at the old man. “Grandpa Winston, stop it. I didn’t mess around, I was just busy.”

“Haha, you can tell Grandpa anything, silly girl. Why do you look shy?”

Grandpa Winston was greatly satisfied, feeling that his mission had been achieved.

Heidi pursed her lips secretly, still glaring at Lucas.

How could she tell Grandpa Winston that Lucas had dragged her into the washroom that evening and made her clean his shoes because someone had accidentally spilled a drink on them?

Lucas’ expression somehow relaxed when Heidi didn’t tell Grandpa Winston the whole story.

Although it happened in the past, the old man might flare up which would be bad for his health.

The car arrived at the Harrison Mansion. Both Heidi and Lucas helped Grandpa Winston inside the house, doing their best to ignore each other.

The servants all lined up, greeting the old man. All were happy that Grandpa Winston had recovered.

“Food is ready, Grandpa Winston.”

In the dining room, several delicacies covered every inch of the wide table, not leaving a space.

Grilled Chicken Parmesan with Roasted Vegetables. Vegetarian Lasagna with Spinach and Ricotta. Classic Beef Burger with Crispy Bacon and Cheddar.

And Dark Chocolate Mousse with Raspberries. Apple Pie with Cinnamon Whipped Cream for dessert.

Grandpa Winston truly lived up to his promise of ordering the servants to cook Heidi’s favorites.

“Let’s dig in. I can’t wait to finally taste real food again. Let me tell you, Heidi, the hospital’s food is awful.”

“Haha, Grandpa. The hospital food is not that bad, it is highly nutritious and contains all the vital ingredients your body needs.”

“That is because you haven’t tasted it.”

Grandpa Winston chatted with Heidi heartily, once again forgetting about his grandson.

Lucas ate silently, picking several dishes inside his plate at a rapid rate. The man looked so angry that one would think he’d flip the table over.

When his hand reached for a particular meal, Heidi slapped his hand away, before taking the plate and replacing it with another one.

As Heidi was busy, chatting with Grandpa Winston, she didn’t realize her subconscious actions.

Luca’s hand halted mid-air, looking dumbfounded.

Grandpa Winston, who had eagle eyes, laughed at the couple’s interaction.

“I can’t believe I almost poisoned my own grandson. Without Heidi by your side, will you even be able to survive? Why are you such a picky eater?”

The bacon inside the Beef Burger was sprinkled with some chestnut seeds. Grandpa Winston had intentionally told the servants to prepare it that way, hoping to see some reaction from the couple.

Just as he expected, Heidi didn’t disappoint him.

“Only Heidi would remember such small details. You seem to know him more than I do.”

Seeing through Grandpa Winston’s scheme, Heidi helplessly sighed inside. “Grandpa Winston, you have too much faith in me.”

“I know you have a good heart, Heidi. You wouldn’t have allowed my grandson to die even though he’s not good to you.”

Lucas lost his appetite and he dropped his spoon.

“Hey, aren’t you going to thank Heidi for saving your life?” Grandpa Winston gave him a stern look.

Lucas grumbled a few words under his breath, his glare towards Heidi intensifying. Heidi filled up her stomach with every dish she could lay her hands on, once again ignoring Lucas.

After dinner, she accompanied Grandpa Winston upstairs to his bedroom.

“Don’t forget your promise, Heidi. You will always be my granddaughter, and won’t abandon this poor old man.”

“Grandpa, I’ll stand by my words. Don’t have any doubt.”

“Grandpa, goodnight,” Lucas said and was about to leave, but Grandpa Winston stopped him.

“Wait, you have to take Heidi home.”
