129. Something Strange In Her Drink
Harold looked from his phone to everyone, his face ghastly pale. For a few seconds, he couldn’t find his voice.
He finally opened his mouth and broke the shocking news to everyone. At least, Heidi wasn’t shocked by the news.
“Congratulations, Heidi! What you planned is coming true! Now everyone wants to pull out their investments in AG Group, demanding justice.”
Heidi only gave him a smile, acting indifferent.
Harold became more enraged. Pointing a trembling finger forward, he shouted, “You can keep on dreaming about becoming the CEO, though! And if anything happens to the AG Group, Heidi! You’ll wish you never came back!”
“Enough, Harold!” Caleb pulled Heidi behind him. “Leave Heidi alone, will you? You went back on your promise to her, you can’t deny it.”
“My husband did not make any promises!” As always, Beatrice would surely take her husband’s side despite just realizing he stole a valuable treasure from the family.
“Oh, didn’t he?” Regina raised a brow. ” You blame Heidi for everything, are you sure it’s not your karma?”
“None of this would have happened if Heidi hadn’t returned.”
“Let her go back to her ex-husband. Didn’t she just reveal her identity? I’m sure he’ll be so happy to bring her back!”
The family’s argument shook the building…
For a moment, Heidi stood in a corner, watching everything in a daze, as if experiencing a dream.
Her Dad and Uncle hadn’t always been enemies, what went wrong?
Growing up, she and her cousins were the best of friends… What went wrong?
Whenever the family gathered, it ended in chaos. If things continued this way, what would the next generation of the Olsens look like?
“Cat got your tongue, Heidi?” Lilian stepped in beside her and snickered. ” Why do you look like a drenched rat?”
Heidi squared her shoulders, giving her a defiant look. “Lilian Olsen, did you learn your lesson in the police custody? If yes, you can have your position back at StriveStyle Co.”
“Ah-You-” Lilian’s eyes turned red with rage. “Heidi, are you mocking me?
Now I’ve become a laughingstock in your eyes, right?”
On the contrary, Heidi’s words were serious, not a bit of a mockery.
Her phone rang and she left the place, heading upstairs.
“You must have wondered why I left early last night, right?” Steve’s voice sounded on the phone. “Did you notice anything strange, Heidi?”
Heidi frowned in confusion. “What do you mean, Steve?”
“Tracy is dangerous and full of tricks. Stay away from her, Heidi, or Lucas Harrison.” Steve’s voice was laced with regret. “Can you guess the reason why I asked you not to drink anything?”
Heidi sat on her bed, feeling troubled. ”
Steve, I can’t understand anything if you don’t explain it clearly.”
“You have to think. If I spill everything, it won’t be good for both of us. Just know that my feelings for you are untainted.”
Thinking about it meant thinking back to all that happened at the gala.
It meant thinking back to the desperate night Heidi shared with Lucas. She shut her eyes, shuddering inside.
Heidi didn’t drink too much wine, but she felt greatly intoxicated.
Was there something strange in her drink?
Was that why she couldn’t control herself and let Lucas have his way with her?
Why, though?
If it was Tracy who did it, why would she set her up with Lucas?
How strange and ridiculous.
Lost in her thoughts, Heidi snapped back to the present when her phone rang.
Seeing it was from a strange number, she hesitated before answering it.
“Heidi…” the deep voice of a man came from the other end, and Heidi stiffened.
“Is it true? Are you Heidi Olsen?”
