When Han Muzi went to work on Monday, she noticed, from afar, a huge crowd had gathered in front of the entrance of the company. She was surprised. What was going on?
It was abnormal for so many people to be gathered around her company so early in the morning—they did not have that many clients. Even if they had that many clients, they wouldn’t gather in a crowd like this.
As they got closer, she recognized the posture of these people. She remembered it from the time she was overseas and had often been chased after by the paparazzi—they were all reporters.
What’s going on? Did something happen to the company? She asked Ye Moxuan’s driver to stop the car somewhere nearby, then called Yan. There should have been others who had arrived earlier than her considering she wasn’t early to work today. Thus, she had better ask them about the situation first.
Just as she prepared to make the call, her phone started ringing. She took a look at the screen and saw that it was Yan calling. She answered the call immediately.
As soon as she pressed the button to answer the call—before she could even say anything—she heard Yan’s anxious voice coming through the phone. “Muzi, have you arrived at the company? If you haven’t, then take your time. There’s a lot of reporters at the entrance of our company.”
Han Muzi kept quiet. Looking at the dark mass from afar, she pursed her red lips. “I’m in the vicinity of the company.”
“Then you definitely must not go near the company entrance! There are too many reporters there!”
“What’s going on? Why are there so many reporters? Have you found out what’s going on?”
Yan’s voice on the phone was breathless as she explained, “My God! Don’t you, as the person involved, know what’s going on?”
The person involved? Suspicions rose in Han Muzi’s heart. I should know what’s going on?
“Right now, I’m afraid the whole country knows about you. From today onward, even if they don’t recognize you, they’ll probably still know who you are. Do you really have no idea why there are so many reporters here suddenly?”
Han Muzi remained silent. Yan’s explanation made her feel even more lost and confused instead. She furrowed her eyebrows slightly. “What the hell is going on? Hurry up and tell me.”
It stood to reason that even if her identity as a designer was known to the world, it still wouldn’t cause this much of an uproar. It wasn’t as if she was a celebrity. Even if she were a celebrity, it was still impossible for the entire country to know about her. That was why Han Muzi felt so confused.
“Oh God, I seriously want to strangle you to death. How can you not know what’s going on? Fine. Let me ask you. On the way here, did you not notice anything different?”
Notice something different on the way to the company? She blinked several times. For the past two days, she had been with Ye Moxuan, and he held her every night as they slept. Moreover, last night… Recalling the events of the night before, she coughed lightly, and an uncomfortable expression flitted across her face.
She had been very sleepy on the way to the company, so she had leaned back against the seat and took a short nap. However, she poked her head out and looked around after listening to Yan’s words. At first, she couldn’t notice anything out of place, but she later noticed a familiar figure in the distance…
It seemed to be of herself. That photo… was probably taken at a celebration party she had gone to in the past after winning an award abroad.
Why is this picture being displayed in the city’s scrolling billboard? Could it be that someone was helping to promote her? Unfortunately, it was too far away and she couldn’t make out the words. Han Muzi called out, “Mr. Lin, can you please move the car back? Somewhere around that spot.”
She relayed the direction to Mr. Lin. He was her chauffeur, one that Ye Moxuan had specially hired to fetch her to and fro Seabay Villa.
Mr. Lin nodded and reversed the car to the spot she had indicated. As the car pulled to a stop, she rolled down the window and earnestly studied the poster. Now that they were closer, she could finally make out the words and the poster on the billboard.
She scrutinized it for a moment, then her face flushed beet-red. Ye Moxuan, that b*stard… How could he? Without my consent…
Mr. Lin had noticed it along the way while driving, but since the future Young Lady Ye had been resting with her eyes closed the whole way, he did not bother her. Seeing that she had asked him to reverse the car for her to look at it, he couldn’t help but smile slightly. “Young Master Ye is truly thoughtful.”
Han Muzi kept quiet. Hearing Mr. Lin’s words, she couldn’t help but bite on her lower lip.
He was thoughtful alright. In fact, he wasn’t just thoughtful; he was full of schemes too! How could he not mention something so important to her? She had been in the dark until now! That b*stard! How can he go overboard like this just because he successfully proposed to me?
Thinking about it, she angrily called Ye Moxuan. Receiving her phone call, he answered with a gentle voice, “Did you miss me already?”
“To hell with missing you!” she cursed at him straightaway. “What’s the deal with the poster?”
His low laughter carried over from the other end of the phone. After a moment, he asked her, “Are you satisfied?”
“Satisfied about what?” she asked.
“With everything that I’ve done, like announcing to the world that you’re about to become Mrs. Ye. Now that everybody knows you’re about to marry me, let’s see how you intend to escape in the future.”
Let’s see how you intend to escape in the future. That sentence made her heart stop for a moment. What’s this b*stard going on about so suddenly? Does he think that I’m going to leave him?
“Did you do all these…” Han Muzi lifted her gaze to look at the scrolling poster and broadcasted messages outside, and a complicated look flashed across her beautiful eyes. She continued, “Because you’re afraid that I’d leave you?”
There was a long pause on the other side of the phone before he gently refuted, “That’s not it. It wasn’t because I was scared that you’d leave me. Even if you escaped from me, I’d still chase you until you’re back in my arms anyway. This is just a sign of my sincerity. Everything that I owe you from before, I’ll make it up to you. Muzi, this is my sincerity to you.”
The silence dragged on. She felt that her heart was beating abnormally. Although she knew that the words had been transmitted through the phone, she still glanced over uncomfortably at Mr. Lin who was driving in front, feeling extremely embarrassed.
She pulled her gaze away, lowered her voice, and uttered, “Well, right now there’s a big crowd in front of my company’s entrance—no thanks to you. How am I supposed to get in?”
Ye Moxuan burst out laughing. “Isn’t that great? Your company is getting free publicity too!”
“Ye Moxuan!” Han Muzi was outraged. Right now, there was such a huge crowd in front of her company that she couldn’t even enter, and he still dared to joke around with her.
“It’s okay.” Probably because he was afraid of her anger, his voice became even gentler—carrying a hint of mollycoddling—as he coaxed her, “It’s only because the news had just come out that the reporters are frantically trying to interview you. It’ll blow over in a few days. Why don’t you have Mr. Lin turn the car around and drive you to my company?”
“To your company?” she asked.
“Yeah. Change up your working environment and spend some time with your future husband. Isn’t that a great idea?”
She was speechless. To think that she had believed in his evil intentions! This b*stard!
She gritted her teeth and snapped, “Who would want to work with you? In your dreams!” Annoyed, she hung up on him immediately.
Mr. Lin watched the scene from his seat with a grin. Han Muzi suddenly noticed a problem when she ended the call. Considering how her company had already been blocked like this, and that reporters were the best at digging up information… If they were able to find my company, what about Little Bean’s school? Sh*t!
