Afterward, she went to the supermarket and picked some fruits before Xiao Su came with his car.
Han Muzi walked toward the waving Xiao Su before she got into the car, and then he drove her to the hospital.
On the road, Xiao Su wanted to say something to her, but he remained silent. Even after seeing the stuff she prepared, he didn’t speak a word about it.
At the entrance of the hospital, when Han Muzi was about to get out of the car, Xiao Su finally spoke, “Young—Miss Shelly.”
Han Muzi stopped her movements after hearing him, and she kept quiet for a second before turning to him. “Say it. I can see that you’ve been holding it the whole journey.”
Xiao Su blushed at her words while he awkwardly licked his lips, but when he thought about Ye Moxuan, he immediately asked, “Do you still love Young Master Ye?”
His words froze Han Muzi on her seat.
She thought of countless things Xiao Su might say to her, but she never expected this. Do I still love him?
“To be honest with you. Young Master Ye ordered me to… call you Young Lady.”
Han Muzi said nothing.
“So, I would like to ask you a question on his behalf. Do you still love him?”
The air went so silent that no sound could be heard.
A while later, Han Muzi slowly lifted her head, and she cast her eyes on his face steadily. “Xiao Su,” she called out. “I’m grateful to you for the things you did for me back then. I know that you were protective of me and you truly treated me as the Second Young Lady of the Ye family. But, five years have passed, and I’m no longer Young Lady to you. I’m just another stranger.” Xiao Su’s thoughts were spilled out perfectly by Han Muzi. For a moment, he awkwardly lowered his head. “It is natural for any human to feel this way, so it’s normal for you to think like that. And, frankly, the feeling is mutual… My thoughts are the same as yours.” At this point, Xiao Su quickly raised his head. “Now, Ye Moxuan is just another stranger to me.”
“Then…” Xiao Su was in disbelief as he gaped at her. “What you mean is that you don’t love Young Master Ye anymore?”
Han Muzi turned her head to gaze outside the window. “Under the passage of time, a lot of things we just can’t hold on to.”
Time truly was the best medicine. Back then… there were times when she truly felt that she couldn’t make it, but five years passed in the blink of an eye. Even though seeing him now still caused a bit of a stir inside her, she wasn’t the same as before when she couldn’t live without him.
When the thought came to mind, Han Muzi smiled gently. “Do you think that I’m now clinging on to your Young Master Ye? Xiao Su, he saved my life, so I will do my best to take care of him. Besides, he is still my client. You can rest assured that when he is fully healed and the deal between us is over, I will stay far from him, and we will forever be strangers. Hence, you don’t need to worry that I’ll hurt your Young Master Ye again.”
To this point, Xiao Su finally understood her intentions. He grinded his teeth and said, “Then do you know that Young Master Ye will be hurt eventually no matter what you do? It has been inevitable since the day you showed up in front of him.”
Listening to him, Han Muzi was startled, then she looked at him meaningfully. “So? Are you saying… my very appearance was a mistake?”
“I-I…” Xiao Su stuttered as he felt guilty after being looked at by Han Muzi that way. He quickly diverted his sight away from her and mumbled, “That’s not what I meant.”
“Then what do you mean?” Han Muzi smiled at him, but there wasn’t any warmth in her eyes. She then continued her speech without waiting for Xiao Su to answer. “Fine. I know what you mean, but your thoughts won’t change what I want to do. I already told you just now what I’ve planned to do, and after I’m done, I will personally cut off any contact with him, so you don’t need to worry about that. Thank you for sending me here today. I’ll be going in now.” After she was done, she opened the door and walked out of the car without waiting for Xiao Su’s reply.
She didn’t give Xiao Su the chance to speak. However, Xiao Su didn’t have anything to speak for himself, because he only wanted to know of Han Muzi’s thoughts. After all, it wouldn’t be good for the two of them to be entangled with each other. She is right. After all these years, everything has faded. But what about Young Master Ye? Why is he… still reluctant to let go? He has been holding onto the marriage for five years just to wait for her. But, she isn’t the same as she was five years ago.
Han Muzi carried the thermos into the ward, and Ye Moxuan was lying down while holding onto a few pillows, probably waiting for her.
She had only been away for a day, but someone had already prepared a chair for him. The chair looked as if it was custom made for him so that three pillows could be placed on it for him to lie on. It looked so soft, and even Han Muzi couldn’t hold back the urge to touch it.
However, she placed the thermos on the table first and glanced toward Ye Moxuan.
As soon as he heard her, he lifted his head from the pillows at last.
He looked better now than he was during the day. Although his face was still pale, his eyes were sparkling brightly, as if there was a beam of light in him as he regarded her. “You’re here.”
The light in his eyes sent a shock into Han Muzi, and she nodded gently. “Yes. How are you today? Is the wound better now?”
Ye Moxuan didn’t answer her. Instead, he reached out and used his index finger to signal her to come over.
Han Muzi didn’t know what he wanted as he curved his finger in her direction, so she went over to him. “What is it?”
Just as she spoke, her wrist was immediately held onto by Ye Moxuan, and before she could react, he pressed her head forward to kiss her.
What’s happening? Han Muzi’s eyes widened in shock as she couldn’t react to the situation happening before her eyes. Am I being raided a kiss?
Ye Moxuan’s soft thin lips, which carried a sense of coldness, touched hers quickly and left, as though he was afraid of her rejection.
Until Han Muzi came back around, Ye Moxuan had already lay back to the chair.
“You!” She was so furious that she bit on her lip while lifting her hand, as if wanting to hit him.
Nevertheless, he suddenly flashed his puppy eyes. “I’m a patient, you know.”
Han Muzi was rendered speechless.
“Weren’t you asking me if my wound is better now? It would heal sooner if you kiss it.”
“Is that so? Then why stay in a hospital if you can heal yourself at home?” she sneered at him.
She was starting to get angry, but Ye Moxuan kept on poking her nerves. “If you’re willing to be my personal caretaker, then I’ll gladly do so.”
“Don’t even think about it.” Han Muzi rolled her eyes at him, then she stood up to move aside while wiping her lips.
“See; it is you who is unwilling to do so, not me.” Ye Moxuan smirked while putting on a smug face.
This bastard. Han Muzi secretly scoffed at him, then she turned to the thermos and opened it. Inside it was only a bowl of plain porridge, and she suddenly felt that giving the steamed fish to the stray cat was the right choice.
