A familiar voice could suddenly be heard, stopping Tang Yuanyuan in her tracks.
She could not believe her ears and thought it might be an illusion. Otherwise, how could she have heard Yishu’s voice at this hour?
After pausing for a while, she did not hear any more voices. Tang Yuanyuan then laughed miserably in her heart. It really was an illusion.
She took a step out and continued to walk toward her dormitory. Soon after, a slender figure obstructed her way. Tang Yuanyuan raised her head in astonishment. From what she saw, it was the handsome silhouette of Yuchi Yishu.
Yishu? Is it really him? Tang Yuanyuan fell into a trance and could hardly differentiate reality from her dreams. Was it really her illusion? Why would Yishu be here?
“I’ve been looking for you for so long. Now that I’m in front of you, you’re still not going to look at me?” Yuchi Yishu’s voice sounded a little exhausted and his voice was a little hoarse. He was short of breath as he walked toward her.
Tang Yuanyuan subconsciously took a step back. “Yishu?”
Yuchi Yishu took a deep breath and looked at her helplessly. “You’re still able to recognize me? Since you’re able to recognize me, then why didn’t you want to meet up with me for so long?”
As to the reason why she was unwilling to meet him, it could not be said out loud. But now that he was already standing in front of her, Tang Yuanyuan had to, at the very least, say something. However, she did not know what to say since she was never the one to put on a good face.
After thinking for some time, Tang Yuanyuan could only clumsily answer, “It’s not that I’m unwilling to meet you, it’s just that I’m too busy with my studies these days.”
“Busy?” Yuchi Yishu chuckled. “But you weren’t busy when you went out with Chufeng?”
Tang Yuanyuan was speechless.
Seeing how she did not speak, Yuchi Yishu took another step forward.
As soon as she saw him moving forward, Tang Yuanyuan took another step back. She even turned around and had her back facing Yuchi Yishu. “It’s not that I’m not busy, it’s just that after going out with Chufeng, I don’t have much time left. I was really busy for the past few days, and I just happened to be free today.” Tang Yuanyuan sighed in relief after she anxiously explained to him. She thought that her reply was quite smart. Yuchi Yishu should not be able to find any mistakes with it.
“Then will you be free tomorrow?” Yuchi Yishu asked.
Tang Yuanyuan was stunned and answered, “I have to study tomorrow. So no, I’m not free.”
“What about the day after tomorrow?”
What is he trying to do? Tang Yuanyuan pursed her lips and answered, “I’m not free too.”
After she had said this, there was no response from behind for a good while. Tang Yuanyuan bit her lower lip as she began regretting. Were her words too harsh? After all, liking him was her own business and Yishu was clueless about it. Besides, it wasn’t wrong for her to like him. So, why should she put all the blame on him?
Just as Tang Yuanyuan was thinking about this, a deep sigh came from behind.
“You’re not as obedient as before.”
Tang Yuanyuan was puzzled; how was she not obedient?
Then, her shoulders were being held onto and she was being pulled around Yuchi Yishu to face him. It was summer, and her clothes were not thick. Tang Yuanyuan could clearly feel the heat from the palm of his hands transmitting to her body through her thin clothes. “You would never lie to me before this.”
Lie? Tang Yuanyuan looked up and met with Yuchi Yishu’s intense eyes. His eyes narrowed slightly as if he could see through her heart.
She then subconsciously avoided his gaze. “I’m not lying. I really need to study.” With this, Tang Yuanyuan wanted to break free from his grasp. However, she found Yuchi Yishu’s hands firmly gripping her shoulders and she could not break free at all. “Yishu?”
“Yuanyuan, can we talk?”
About what? Tang Yuanyuan was reminded of her embarrassing actions that day, so she awkwardly bit her lower lip, shook her head, and refused, “What is there to talk about? Please let go of me, Yishu. It’s getting late. If I don’t return to school now, Fei and the others from the dormitory will worry about me.”
Upon hearing this, Yuchi Yishu looked in the direction of her school entrance and helplessly said, “It really is getting late. Next time, don’t be out too late with Chufeng.”
Tang Yuanyuan subconsciously rebelled against him. “Yishu, I’m almost a grown-up now. I can make my own decisions about my own matters. Besides, I may have called you my brother, but… you’re not even my real brother.” What she meant was, Yishu was not her biological brother and that he did not have the right to meddle with her affairs.
After hearing this, Yuchi Yishu’s heart sank. However, he understood her feelings given how she had been facing many problems these days. “I may not be your real brother, but I grew up together with you. Surely, I must mean more to you than Chufeng, right?”
Tang Yuanyuan could not answer. Yuchi Yishu then sighed and rubbed her head gently. “We’ll talk tomorrow?”
Tang Yuanyuan remained silent.
“If you don’t answer me, I might follow Chufeng’s idea and find you straight away in your class. Or, would you prefer me to look for you at your dormitory?”
Hearing this, Tang Yuanyuan raised her head in shock as she looked at him with disbelief.
“So?” Yuchi Yishu stared carefully at the young lady’s eyes. His comforting voice coaxed her, “Choose one?”
Tang Yuanyuan lowered her eyes dejectedly. “We’ll talk tomorrow then.”
“Okay. I’ll meet you after school at the school entrance.” After getting her promise, Yuchi Yishu did not trouble her anymore. He let go of her and rubbed her head. “Go in now. Remember to rest early.”
Tang Yuanyuan sprinted toward her dormitory and rushed up the stairs. Upon entering her room, she immediately entered the bathroom. As though her emotions were having a rollercoaster ride, she looked at herself in the mirror. She felt like her expressions had exposed everything.
If she could, she did not want to meet Yuchi Yishu anymore.
That day, she had vomited after drinking milk tea and pretended to sleep in the bathroom. She even pretended to sleep all the way and it was very humiliating for her. However, something that was even more humiliating than that incident, was Tang Yuanyuan’s feelings for him.
Tang Yuanyuan reached out to poke her face in the mirror and chuckled. “With this face of yours, what makes you think you have the right to be liked? Both of you grew up together. If he likes you, he would have fallen for you a long time ago.”
If we’re going to talk tomorrow, what am I going to say?
What should she say if Yishu asked about her thoughts? Should she deny it, or should she directly admit it? What should she say after admitting? Should she tell him that she had thought through it and then wish him and that beautiful girl a long-lasting relationship? Would saying these make her seem magnanimous?
No. Tang Yuanyuan felt that she could not say it out loud. She just could not wish Yuchi Yishu and another girl a long-lasting relationship.
But what if she denied it? If she denied it, then how would she explain her behavior that day?
I can’t possibly tell him that I went for some milk tea because I suddenly thought of some upsetting issues, right?
After some thinking, Tang Yuanyuan had a headache. If only she knew, she would not have gone out with Chufeng today. This way, she would not have been caught by Yishu at her school entrance.
