After ending the call, Little Bean thought hard about it, but something still didn’t feel right. It hasn’t been that long; does Daddy really have the ability to settle everything so quickly? Then, what about the company overseas? Great-Grandfather is getting on with his years; although he rarely goes to the company during the day, he still takes the time to approve certain important documents himself.
As for the rest, the managers are there to keep the company operating, so there is no need for him to worry about these trivial matters. However, that does not mean that he can just sit back and relax. After all, he isn’t young anymore; if he were to leave the country, who would manage the company affairs?
He began to worry about it, then decided to visit Yuchi Jin after hanging up the call.
At this time, Yuchi Jin was holding a video conference in the study while wearing his gold-rimmed reading glasses. Little Bean stood at the door and stealthily peeked inside. He found that, despite his age, Yuchi Jin had a formidable and majestic expression on his face while he was holding his meeting. Besides, his speech was clear, organized, and carried an impressive aura to it.
I guess there’s nothing to worry about; Great-Grandfather doesn’t look like he will be facing any major issues.
Yuchi Jin kept his face straight. As long as his great-grandson wasn’t around, he rarely smiled; less so when he was working. Thus, nobody dared to casually joke around in front of him. Due to his age, his eye sockets were deeply sunken, making his gaze seem more powerful and sharp.
“Yes, let’s agree on this then; you can start working on it immediately. Secretary Lin, please follow up on this matter and report to me if any special circumstances arise.” He was about to continue speaking when he noticed a figure standing by the door from the corner of his eye. His expression changed slightly as he thought that it was a servant, with no fear of death, who dared to violate a taboo of his. However, when he raised his eyes to look over, his gaze met with a pair of eyes as black as glass beads.
Little Bean? The sharp aura wrapped around him dissolved instantaneously. The people in the video conference noticed the change too, and they were looking at each other in confusion when they heard him say, “Seeing as we have concluded this matter, if there is nothing else, let’s end the meeting here. I’m tired.”
“Understood.”
He then ended the video conference and took off his reading glasses. Then, he waved at the little figure by the door to come in. “If you’re already here, why didn’t you come in?”
Little Bean hid behind the door with his hand covering his mouth, but at this moment, he blinked his eyes strongly. Hearing Yuchi Jin talking to him, he turned around and walked in with his short, little legs. “Great-Grandfather!”
As soon as Yuchi Jin heard the little guy calling him ‘Great-Grandfather’ in his melodious, childlike voice, his frozen heart melted instantly and was filled to the brim with warmth and tenderness. He reached his hand out toward Little Bean. “Come over to me, my little one.”
Little Bean walked over obediently.
“Why didn’t you come in? Why were you peeking from behind the door?” Yuchi Jin pulled him onto his lap, then helped him straighten out his clothes. Noticing that he was dressed lightly, Yuchi Jin frowned. “The weather is so cold right now; why are you dressed so lightly? Are the servants not taking care of you properly?”
“That’s not it, Great-Grandfather. The servants have been very nice to me, but I’m not cold.” Then, he hugged Yuchi Jin’s arm. “Great-Grandfather, I didn’t enter because I saw you were talking. So, I didn’t come in so as to not disturb you.”
“What a good boy.” Yuchi Jin was very pleased with how Little Bean was so understanding and considerate. After getting along with Little Bean, he had to admit that Muzi had brought up her kid very well. Despite his high status, he had met many spoiled brats. Even children of large enterprises would act well-behaved on the surface and greeted him politely, but their eyes revealed their impatience and abhorrence for it. On the other hand, some were dull and mechanical—like machines.
Be that as it may, Little Bean was different. When he greeted somebody or talked to somebody, his eyes were lively and serious, making it hard to ignore anything he said. Furthermore, his conversation skills were smooth and comfortable; no matter what was said to him, he always had an answer beyond one’s expectations. Sometimes, he could even speak eloquently on matters others did not know of.
For Yuchi Jin’s great-grandson to be so bright and smart, he was not only relieved but also ecstatic. If my Moxuan does not want to inherit my assets and the conglomerate, then… I can leave it all to my great-grandson. The moment this thought began to take root in his mind, it could no longer go away.
Recently, he had begun having this notion. Before this, he had worried about who he was going to hand over all his assets to after he passed. When he found Ye Moxuan, he had been overjoyed, thinking that he could make Ye Moxuan stay behind by changing his name—to protect and inherit his assets. In the end, Ye Moxuan decided he wanted to return to China. Thus, he began worrying about it again. When the idea came that Little Bean could inherit everything from him, he finally felt he had found a solution to all his worries.
That was why, when Ye Moxuan called him to inform him about his return to China with Little Bean, he immediately told Ye Moxuan about this idea. After falling silent for a bit, Ye Moxuan told him, “Muzi and I both respect Little Bean’s opinions. He may be a kid, but he can think independently. So, you should discuss this with him. If he agrees to take over your assets when he grows older, then Muzi and I will not be against it.” After all, he had to make his own path to adulthood. As parents, they had no right to interfere; it was fine as long as he did not go astray.
Once this matter was settled between Ye Moxuan and Yuchi Jin, it was decided that the latter would bring up the topic with Little Bean himself. Since he had found a solution to his worries, he agreed to go back to China with Little Bean. There were many trustworthy people in his company, and they could manage the company for the time being. Thus, he could afford to go to China and live with them for a short period, as long as he made time to come back once in a while.
“Great-Grandfather, do you have a lot to do at the company?” Little Bean asked in his childlike voice. During the time they had spent together, they became very close. Yuchi Jin straightened out Little Bean’s clothes while Little Bean reached out his warm little hands to warm Yuchi Jin’s ears.
These words and small actions warmed Yuchi Jin’s frozen heart. Pinching Little Bean’s cheeks, he wondered how he should broach the subject. “I’m not that busy with the company; I have many professionals managing it, as well as a few trustworthy people. So, I only need to handle very important matters. Little Bean, what did you think of the company when I brought you there with me the other day? Was it cool?”
Little Bean nodded innocently and replied per his great-grandfather’s wishes, “It’s great; the company is very cool indeed. Great-Grandfather is awesome!”
Listening to these words pleased Yuchi Jin, and he narrowed his eyes in satisfaction. “Then, Little Bean, are you willing to manage this company?”
