As though countless dark clouds were hovering over Shen Qi, she was engulfed in darkness. It was a near-death experience, as if she was about to suffocate, and her heart almost stopped beating. But now, all her fears were easily resolved by Ye Moxuan.
“I’m sorry… I may cause more trouble for you if I stay, why don’t…” Shen Qi apologized softly.
“What? Are you going to back down? Now, you’re here only as my partner. In the future, there will be many more grander occasions where you will be introduced as my wife. Are you going to back down from all of those as well?”
What? Shen Qi was dumbfounded by his words, and could not come to her senses in a short while.
He said that in the future I would be introduced as his wife? Are we not going to get divorced?
When Shen Qi was in a trance, Ye Moxuan realized what he just said and frowned, taking a glimpse of Shen Qi from the corner of his eye.
As expected, that woman is daydreaming again.
Is she thinking about what I just said?

Ye Moxuan’s gaze met with his, and said calmly, “I’m sorry that I left in the middle of our discussion on a possible collaboration some time back as I had other matters to attend to. Take my presence today as my apology to you.”
An apology? Would the second young master of Ye Group apologize to anyone?
No one would believe it if the news was spread out, but Ye Moxuan had phrased his words well, showing enough respect for Mr. Zhou.
On the other hand, Mr Zhou was calm and composed. He raised his goblet and said, “Thank you.”
Then, he turned his attention to Shen Qi, who was behind Ye Moxuan.

Ye Moxuan got his hint and asked Shen Qi to come closer.
“I’m going upstairs to discuss some matters with Mr Zhou.”
Upon hearing that, she was stunned. “Discuss some matters? Am I going with you?”
“You’ll stay here.”
Shen Qi turned pale. “I-I’ll stay here?”
“I’ll come back in 15 minutes.”
“Alright then.” She could do nothing but nod.
Soon after, Xiao Su disappeared with Ye Moxuan. Before Ye Moxuan left, he told Shen Qi not to move around, and stay there and wait for him.
Shen Qi had mixed feelings when she saw Ye Moxuan leave before her eyes.
In the last dinner they attended, she accompanied him as his assistant, but he left her behind.
Now she was here as his partner, but she was left behind again.
After Ye Moxuan left with Mr Zhou, only Shen Qi was left standing alone there. Before this, some people were curious about Shen Qi’s identity, but they did not dare to move forward and ask her because Ye Moxuan was around. Shen Qi tried hard to keep the smile on her face. “Thank you for your compliment. But we’re really not the same person.”
“Oh, you’re really his assistant then.”
“It’s the first time we see Young Master Ye with a female assistant, and it’s not his wife.”
Shen Qi became nervous again. Her vision dimmed. She bit her lip and turned away from the crowd, and went over to a corner.

She saw a glass of red wine on the table and picked it up, then she remembered she was pregnant, so she put the glass back on the table.
As soon as she put down the glass, a male voice was heard above her head.
“Assistant Shen, may I invite you to a dance?”
The sudden emergence of a male voice frightened Shen Qi. She raised her head at once and saw a dapper man clad in a suit smiling at her.
Shen Qi hurriedly shook her head. “Thanks, but I can’t dance.”
“It’s okay. I can teach you.”
Shen Qi lowered her gaze. “Sorry, but I really can’t.”
The man was a little disappointed, but he kept on smiling. “It’s alright. We don’t have to dance. Can I drink with you?”
Drink with me? Shen Qi raised her head again and took a look at him. He looked smart and did not seem to be a bad person, but his intention toward her was obvious. Shen Qi gave it a thought and decided to reject him.
“I can’t drink alcohol.”
“Alright then. Have a nice day.”
“Tut. She’s just an assistant but arrogance is written all over her face. Zhang Yufan, are you backing down just like that?”
When he was about to leave, a voice that was filled with ridicule and coldness was heard.
Hearing that voice, Shen Qi uncontrollably widened her eyes and turned her gaze to him.
Lu Xunchang, who was missing for a long time, now stood in front of Shen Qi. He was followed by three big guys, who were supposed to be his subordinates. He did not seem to be able to walk normally. Previously, he was charming and high-spirited, and would wake up to a different woman beside him every morning. But now, he looked more like a loser.
Upon seeing him, Shen Qi got up from her chair at once.
“Why? Are you afraid to see me here?” Lu Xunchang grinned at Shen Qi in a ferocious way, but his words were directed at Zhang Yufan. “Zhang Yufan, don’t you think you’re too cowardly as a man? Even an assistant with no significance was able to turn you down. For a woman like herself, don’t you think you should teach her a lesson?”
Zhang Yufan was a decent and educated man, so he frowned at the vulgar words Lu Xunchang uttered.
“President Lu, I think you’ve crossed the line. I don’t force my will on anyone. So what if she’s just an assistant? Don’t you think that respect is mutual?”
