Sophia took a sip of her coffee, her expression becoming somewhat calmer. “I know you’re the first girl my son has ever liked.”
“So, Mrs. Weiss, can you allow us to be together?” Harmony couldn’t help but ask again.
“Miss Mayo, I came here to ask you to leave my son.” Sophia didn’t beat around the bush anymore. She didn’t need to use harsh words towards a girl; she just needed to achieve her goal.
“I will give you 50 million as compensation. I know it’s a bit less for your profession, but I think it should be enough.” Sophia said, her mind filled with Harmony’s scandalous photos. She wondered if this girl had ever considered whether a man she liked would come into her life when she agreed to take those photos, whether the man and his family would accept her.
So, although Sophia felt some sympathy for Harmony, she still doubted Harmony’s character and morality.
Harmony still wanted to fight for her feelings, even if she ultimately failed, but she didn’t expect Sophia to be so clear. She didn’t want her to be with Ezekiel.
“May I ask, Mrs. Weiss, is it because of my background?” Harmony bit her lip, her eyes moist because this was something she could never change.
Sophia thought for a moment and shook her head. “No, it has nothing to do with your background.”
“I know I was born poor. I’m not worthy of Ezekiel.” Harmony pursed her lips, holding back her tears.
Sophia continued to shake her head, comforting her. “No, Miss Mayo, please don’t think like that. It’s not because of your birth. After all, when I married Ezekiel’s father, there was a huge gap between us. This is not the reason I’m stopping you two from being together.” Sophia spoke truthfully.
Harmony looked up in surprise. “Can I ask what the reason is?”
Sophia thought for a moment and decided not to mention the photos to hurt her. “I can’t tell you the reason, Miss Mayo. Please leave Ezekiel. I hope you won’t make it difficult for me as a mother.”
Harmony loved Ezekiel so much; she certainly didn’t want to hurt his family. If this was her fate, she would accept it.
“Thank you, Mrs. Weiss, for taking the time to see me. I will do as you say. I won’t bother Ezekiel anymore. I will… I will leave him and let him have a happier future.” As Harmony spoke, tears fell uncontrollably. She wiped them away, only to find more tears welling up.
Just then, someone handed her a tissue. She took it and looked up to see a pair of gentle eyes looking at her. She suddenly understood that it wasn’t Sophia who was making things difficult for her, but she was making things difficult for Sophia!
Because her appearance had caused trouble, it was her fault. It had nothing to do with Sophia. All of this was just something she shouldn’t have hoped for.
“I’m sorry, I lost my composure,” Harmony said, holding back her tears.
“Miss Mayo, I’m sorry,” Sophia said and gave Harmony a bank card she had prepared. This card contained the five million she had deposited, which was her compensation to Harmony.
She was also grateful for the happiness Ezekiel had experienced during this time.
Harmony shook her head and pushed the bank card back to Sophia. “I won’t take it, Mrs. Weiss. Ezekiel has helped me a lot during this time, and I’m already very content. I can’t take your money. Rest assured, I will leave him for sure”
With that, Harmony stood up, bowed to Sophia, and left. Sophia watched her figure from behind. This meeting left a good impression on her.
If it weren’t for those photos constantly hindering her, she might have grown to like this girl. But… she just couldn’t get past this hurdle.
After leaving the cafe, Harmony hid in the restroom. She still couldn’t calm down. She covered her mouth, suppressing her sobs. Just then, her phone rang. She picked it up and answered it as if she had seen a lifesaver. “Sera, can you come pick me up, please?”
