It was human nature to prioritize one’s own well-being. Kayson knew he couldn’t afford to offend either side and decided that getting a scapegoat to bear the blame was for the best. That way, he could free himself from the burden of the outcome.
“Hmm?” Dustin frowned when Kayson singled him out. What a shrewd old man, quick to take credit and even quicker at deflecting blame.
“Hey, you, hand over that guy inside, and I will reward you handsomely.” Yonah turned his attention to Dustin, his tone authoritative.
“Do I know you?” Dustin replied calmly.
“I’m Yonah, the second disciple of the Drakes Dominion Order.”
He continued proudly, “As long as you cooperate and hand over the guy without a fuss, the Drakes Dominion Order will always have your back.”
“And if I refuse?” Dustin countered.
“Refuse? Hmph!” Yonah snorted. “If you don’t hand him over, that would be a direct challenge against us. Can you bear the consequences?”
Anyone foolish enough to challenge the Drakes Dominion Order would only find death awaiting them.
“Hearing you say that, I really don’t feel like handing him over.” Dustin remained unfazed.
“Ryan’s condition is still unstable. As a doctor, it’s my duty to ensure his safety. Whether it’s the Drakes Dominion Order or any other force, none of you will take him from me today.”
“You brat! Do you have any idea what you’re saying?” Yonah’s expression darkened.
He threatened, “You’re seeking death by going against us. In the Southwest region, no one will be able to save you! I’ll give you one more chance to change your mind. Are you handing him over or not?”
“Nope,” Dustin said coldly.
“You have a death wish!” Yonha flew into a rage.
He waved his hand and ordered, “Break his legs!”
“Yes, sir!” Two disciples from the Drakes Dominion Order unsheathed their swords in response to the command.
“Stop!”
Right then, Jackson abruptly intervened, “Yonah, this young man is my friend. You better not touch him!”
“I’m warning you not to get involved, Jackson! Anyone who goes against the Drakes Dominion Order will pay the price!” Yonah said darkly.
“That’s right.” Bran suddenly chimed in, “This brat is arrogant, ignorant, and utterly disrespectful to our three major sects. He needs to be taught a lesson. This time, I’m siding with Yonah.”
“Bran Kingsley! Don’t make this personal. If you have a problem, take it up with me. Bullying the weak proves nothing!” Jackson rebuked Bran with a stern glare.
“Hmph! We’ll settle our scores sooner or later, but not at this moment.”
Bran redirected his attention to Yonah and said with a smile, “Yonah, I’ll handle the Embersteel Order. Go ahead and deal with that brat. Once everything is settled, we’ll share the information between us.”
“Excellent. I appreciate your help, Bran! “Yonah nodded, accepting the offer. Given the current circumstances, claiming everything to themselves would not be easy.
However, allying with the Frostwing Sect would enable them to control the situation without reservations.
“Attack!” Yonah commanded without hesitation.
“Seize him!” The two disciples from the Drakes Dominion Order exchanged glances and attacked Dustin simultaneously.
“How dare you!” Jackson was furious, unsheathing his sword and preparing to lend his support.
