“Uncle Seth… Uncle Seth!”
As Seth’s body slowly dissipated, Dustin’s eyes turned red, and his voice grew desperate. Having been severely injured earlier, he was overwhelmed, spewing another mouthful of blood before collapsing to the ground. In a daze, a dejected expression adorned his face.
In the relentless pursuit of truth and vengeance, he had sacrificed too much. Another loved one had departed.
Was his quest worth all the sacrifices? Would there have been so many casualties if not for his vengeance- driven choices?
“For a swordsman, perhaps this is the best ending,” Glenn said. His gaze fixed on the trembling Dragon Sparrow Sword, and he added, “The Sword Whisperer lived a brilliant life.
“Even in his final moments, he shone brightly-single-handedly slaying Alaric, destroying the Dragon Guard, and saving the world. A true hero, unparalleled.”
Glenn was typically arrogant and dismissive, even toward his own master, but found himself genuinely impressed by Seth. It was the true brilliance a Sword Whisperer should possess, something all swordsmen could only aspire to.
“It’s all because of me! Uncle Seth wouldn’t have died if it weren’t for saving me!” Dustin regretted his actions and lay on the ground with tears streaming down his face.
If seeking revenge meant losing more loved ones, he’d rather live his life as a nobody and drift aimlessly through it.
At that moment, he grasped the decisions his father made years ago – the death of his mother and his powerful father enduring humiliation.
Initially perceiving his father as weak and fearful of losing power and status, Dustin came to realize that his father’s fear wasn’t centered on losing power but on avoiding the sacrifice of more loved ones.
Some experiences were impossible to comprehend without walking in another’s shoes. Could it be that his father was the most helpless and tormented person back then?
“Logan, if you let this affect you, then I’ve misjudged you,” Glenn stated coldly.
“Seth’s death was his own choice, his decision. It has nothing to do with you. Also, do you think you can live peacefully by doing nothing? You’re terribly naive!
“Dragon Guard had strategically planned a decade ago, aiming to annex the West Lucozian monarchy. The moment has now arrived.
“Whether or not you were involved in these affairs, calamity is inevitable- just a matter of days sooner or later.”
Glenn continued, “As the Crown Prince of West Lucozia, you carry everyone’s hopes and should shoulder corresponding responsibilities!
“Instead of crying and blaming yourself, it’s better to stand up and continue your unfinished plans, even if they are wrong. Only then can the sacrifices for you have meaning! Do you understand?”
Then, Glenn grabbed Dustin’s collar and lifted him. Glenn rarely got angry, but seeing Dustin in such a pitiful state infuriated him.
After listening to Glenn’s words, Dustin’s desolate expression gradually eased. In his lifeless eyes, a glimmer of spirit returned.
Dustin said resolutely, “You’re right. I can’t let Uncle Seth’s sacrifice be in vain. I can’t disappoint those who sacrificed for me. I must continue forward. I must change everything!”
Rather than stumbling through life and shedding tears, he would continue walking, honoring his loved ones.
“Exactly. This is the dignified attitude a Kirin should have!” Glenn nodded in satisfaction.
