A sudden knock echoed through the door. Fenley slowly opened his eyes and asked, “Who’s there?”
“It’s me.”
An old man in white robes entered and pushed the door open. The elder, with an air of otherworldliness, was none other than Alloy Marshall, the guildmaster of the Celestial Alliance.
“Master Alloy?” Fenley’s expression brightened as he quickly stood up.” What brings you here?”
“Just checking on you.” Alloy smiled faintly and asked, “Fenley, how’s your progress lately?”
“I’m now a grandmaster. Just one step away from being an ultimate grandmaster,” Fenley replied truthfully.
“Not bad. Achieving this at such a young age is quite a feat. I wasn’t as accomplished at your age.” Alloy nodded approvingly.
“Master Alloy, you’re too kind. If it weren’t for your guidance, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” Fenley said, lowering his head.
“No need to be humble. Your success is the result of your efforts.”
Alloy smiled and then asked, “Oh, I heard you had a fierce battle last night and even used the Four Elements of God’s Technique. Is that true?”
“It’s true,” Fenley admitted.
“The opponent was quite formidable. He managed to block the first three forms of the Four Elements of God’s Technique. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the chance to use the fourth form, Fury of Lightning God. Otherwise, I could have won!”
“Very good.” Alloy nodded in satisfaction. “Although you didn’t win last night, today you have a chance to redeem yourself.”
“Huh?” Fenley was momentarily stunned, not quite grasping the situation.
“The person you fought last night was Logan Rhys, also known as Kirin. I believe you’re already aware.” Alloy’s tone carried a deeper meaning.
“This morning, an old acquaintance sent a message. We need the Celestial Alliance to handle a certain matter. I think you are well-suited for it.”
“What does Master Alloy want me to do?” Fenley asked cautiously.
“To kill Logan for the sake of our country!” Alloy’s expression turned serious.
“What? Kill Logan?” Fenley’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“Master Alloy, are you joking?” Fenley asked. “Logan Rhys is the Crown Prince of West Lucozia. Killing him would bring immense trouble to the Celestial Alliance.”
In Dragonmarsh, the dominance of the West Lucozian monarchy was common knowledge. With its formidable 50 thousand Black Dragon Army, it stood as an invincible force.
Adding to the challenge, the Prince of West Lucozia was renowned for fiercely guarding his son. If news of his son’s demise reached him, he would undoubtedly mobilize his forces to obliterate the Celestial Alliance.
Despite the Celestial Alliance boasting the title of the world’s leading sect, it has yet to attain a position where it can openly challenge the formidable power of the West Lucozian monarchy.
“Don’t worry. I wouldn’t ask you to do this if I didn’t have a foolproof plan Just focus on the battle, and I’ll handle the rest,” Alloy said calmly.
“Master Alloy, I don’t understand. Who could be worth the risk you’re taking?” Fenley frowned.
“There are some things I cannot reveal at the moment. When you’re in my position, you’ll understand.” Alloy shook his head.
“But-” Fenley hesitated.
“Fenley, this is your chance to prove yourself. Once you’ve killed Logan Rhys, you’ll be unparalleled in the world,” Alloy encouraged. “Of course, if you’re unwilling, I can handle the task personally.”
“Master Alloy! Your old injuries haven’t healed yet. If you fight, you might worsen them,” Fenley said anxiously.
“There’s no choice. For the Celestial Alliance’s development, there are things that I must do.” Alloy shook his head with a hint of helplessness.
Seeing his master sighing, Fenley gritted his teeth and finally agreed, ” Master Alloy, let me do it. Youngsters should take care of their affairs.”
“Good. I haven’t raised you in vain.” Alloy nodded in satisfaction.
He added, “Logan Rhys is currently heading to Quandary Mountain Scenic Monastery. Go there immediately, and at any cost, prevent him from returning to Oakvale!”
