An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori Chapter 1325
“Y-You! What nonsense!” Harper exploded in anger. “Am I wrong? If it wasn’t for this handsome man, you’d have gone bankrupt. But here you are, bickering away. Are you really that dumb?”
Lana folded her arms and pouted. She even gave Dustin a flirtatious look when she was done. “Right, handsome?
She drew out the word handsome, making it sound flirtatious.
“Oh wow! So you two were a team!” Harper looked between them with a look of realization. “No wonder you two were so cozy with each other. It turns out that you’ve been colluding secretly!”
“Idiot,” Lana rolled her eyes at her, having no words. How stupid could Harper get? She always spoke without thinking.
“Let it go, Harper. Dustin was the one who won Enchanting Elegance, We have no right to meddle in what he decides to do with it.” Cody patted Harper on the shoulder. Despite maintaining a calm front, his gaze turned icy. This brat clearly couldn’t read the room.
If Dustin had handed over the painting, it might have earned him a favor. But since he wanted to keep it for himself, Dustin shouldn’t be surprised to find Cody resorting to more cunning tactics.
“Hmph! I’ll remember this! This is not over!” Harper glared at them both and left in a huff.
“Dustin, Harper is just stubborn. I hope you won’t take it to heart. Let’s talk tomorrow.”
Brooke said his goodbyes before following Harper out the door. He was afraid that she was going to do something foolish.
“Dustin, enjoy the rest of your meal. I need to take my leave first. Goodbye.” Cody plastered on a smile before leaving.
The rest of the Harmony Healers students also left after what happened. Dustin simply smiled and remained silent in response.
Both Harper and Cody were far from honorable. One was reckless and stubborn, while the other harbored ulterior motives. It wouldn’t be easy to take Enchanting Elegance from him. “Excuse me, handsome.” Just as Dustin was about to leave, Lana suddenly called out to him.
“Yes?” Dustin turned around.
“Are you here alone?” Lana gave him the once over.
“That’s right. Is there a problem?” Dustin countered. “No. I just wanted to remind you that Oakvale is teeming with all sorts of people. You have such a priceless treasure in your possession.
“I’m afraid you’ll get robbed as soon as you walk out those doors. Especially if you don’t have the protection of a strong force.”
“Is law and order that bad in the capital?” Dustin raised an eyebrow. “Even though this is the capital, people will go to great lengths for wealth. Your painting is more than enough to catch the attention of many,” Lana said ambiguously.
“Thanks for the reminder. But it won’t be easy to steal from me.” Dustin was unconcerned.
“Oh, handsome, the water in Oakvale runs deep. Besides, you only have two fists. How are you going to face all those thugs alone?”
“What would you suggest I do then, Ms. Camron?” Dustin asked.
“Easy. As long as you find an influential family to back you up, you’ll be free of worries. For example, the Camron family.”
