Upon seeing someone of her own kind, Cyanna seemed rather pleased.
Coall’s face lit up with joy when he heard that. “I never thought I’d encounter a fellow clan member within this tower.”
“Surely, the ones imprisoned in this tower aren’t all Draconians, are they?” Jared asked with a hint of surprise.
Just as Coall was about to speak, he heard the voice of a child from the fifth floor ring out. “I am also a Draconian. I’m from Veil Dragon…”
Upon hearing the person on the fifth floor claiming to be a Draconian, Coall instantly grew irate and exclaimed, “Don’t try to fool me! Don’t think that just because you say these things, I won’t take you to task once we reach the fifth floor…”
“I truly am from Veil Dragon!” The child’s voice abruptly shifted into an old man’s voice. “I can disguise anything, and the voice is the easiest to fake. You’ll know if it’s real once you break through that restriction arcane array and see me!”
“My lord, hope…” Coall turned toward Jared.
“Just like Cyanna, you can call me Mr. Chance. I’m going to see if I can unlock that restriction arcane array!”
After Jared finished speaking, he headed toward the staircase.
This time, he didn’t send Coall to test the arcane array. Instead, he activated his Nethersky Eye, and the restriction arcane array came into view before Jared’s eyes.
A slight frown formed on Jared’s forehead when he saw the intricate arcane array and countless runes.
The restriction arcane array on each level was surprisingly different.
Moreover, there was nothing wrong with the staircase this time. To break the arcane array, one needed to start from the arcane array’s core.
Jared tried numerous times, but all his attempts failed.
In the end, Jared attempted to forcefully break through the restriction arcane array with the Dragonslayer Sword, time and time again. However, he was repeatedly repelled.
“The arcane array on each level is different. The one on this level is significantly stronger. I can’t break it.”
After numerous attempts, all Jared could do was express his helplessness.
Coall’s expression was filled with disappointment. However, he still managed to squeeze out a small smile and said, “It’s okay. This restriction arcane array is naturally strong, so it’s normal if we can’t break it.”
“I’ll head up to the fifth floor first to assess the situation. Perhaps I might come up with other solutions up there!”
Jared planned to head up to the fifth floor himself to see who exactly this man, who claimed to be from Veil Dragon, really was.
“Mr. Chance, a man’s heart is incomprehensible, so you must be cautious…” Cyanna reminded Jared.
“I’ll accompany you…”
Catalina walked up to Jared, deciding to accompany him and see what was going on.
They all knew the truth. The individual sealed upstairs was growing stronger by the day. As for the person on the fifth floor, no one could say for certain if he was a Draconian or a good person. Therefore, rushing up there would be nothing short of a gamble.
However, Catalina was willing to accompany Jared to go up, and Jared didn’t reject her offer.
He always felt that there were many undiscovered secrets surrounding this young
lady, Catalina.
“Cloud, Ms. Judith, please wait here for a moment. I’m going to check out the situation upstairs!”
Jared went to assess the situation. If things didn’t look right, he wouldn’t proceed with climbing the tower.
It wasn’t always such a stroke of luck to encounter only Draconians.
Had Coall not been a Draconian, Jared would have been in danger already.
After giving his advice, Jared followed Catalina to the fifth floor.
After the two of them had ascended to the fifth floor, they were seemingly awaited by a hunched old man of a slight build. His face was covered in a full beard.
Upon seeing Jared and his companion approach, the old man cracked a grin, revealing a mouthful of large, yellow teeth.
This utterly disgusted Catalina.
Jared glanced at the old man, recalling the child’s voice moments earlier. The contrast was indeed stark.
No one would have thought that the voice that had just sounded like a child’s surprisingly came from a hunchbacked old man.
If he was from Veil Dragon, his image would also be a facade.
Before Jared could utter a word, the hunchbacked old man suddenly thrust out both palms.
The hands, akin to an eagle’s talon, lunged toward Jared and Catalina.
