Not long after Jared and his group left, Wrey and his followers arrived at the scene. Accompanying Wrey was a disciple from Divination Sect.
The disciple, who had once been a loyal follower of Great Diviner, was the one who revealed the whereabouts of Great Diviner to Wrey and his group. Upon learning that their master had chosen to align with Jared, the disciple and a few others decided to betray Great Diviner and side with Wrey. “There’s no one in the cave anymore, Mr. Lindt,” reported a disciple from Flying Star Sect after taking a look inside..
“D*mn it! Did they find out we were coming?” Wrey entered the cave to investigate and discovered that Jared and his group had just left. “They must have left not long ago. Chase after them! How f*cking dare he betray us?” Wrey waved his hand, and his followers set off in pursuit of Jared and his companions.
Jared and his group still had no idea their whereabouts had been exposed. They continued to move swiftly, following the locations marked on the treasure map.
“Where are we going, Mr. Chance?” Skyler asked curiously. Jared remained silent about their destination and the tasks ahead, as he was focused on leading them on the journey.
“Skyler, let’s not inquire too much. We must simply obey whatever Mr. Chance says,” Matthew reprimanded her. Skyler lowered her head and stuck her tongue out. Jared smiled and said, “It’s all right. I made a promise to someone to take them to a specific – location, so that’s where we’re going.”
Jared did not mention anything about the treasure map, and the others did not press for details either. The group had unwavering trust in Jared as they followed his lead wholeheartedly.
After a full day of traveling, as the sky darkened, Jared led the group to find a place to rest. Just as they settled down for a moment of respite, a disciple from Divination Sect hurriedly. approached Great Diviner and said, “Master, Chandler is missing.”
“Missing? Where did he go?” Great Diviner asked. “Chandler said he had a stomachache and went to relieve himself, but he never returned after that,” the Divination Sect disciple replied.
“What?” Great Diviner exclaimed. “D*mn it. Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” “I thought Chandler was walking in front the whole time…” the disciple explained, his voice trembling with fear.
“Master Diviner, maybe your disciple has fallen behind and is trying to catch up with us. Should we send someone to look for him?” Matthew suggested.
Great Diviner remained silent. He flicked a coin into the air, and it glimmered as it hung in mid- air. Just as the shimmering light flickered into existence, another set of lights appeared in the near distance.
Seeing the glimmering lights, Great Diviner could not help but frown. “D*mn it! That b*stard has betrayed me.” He then turned to Jared. “Mr. Chance, Wrey and his men are on their way. My eldest disciple has betrayed me and is leading them here.”
Jared, too, knitted his brows upon hearing that. He had thought they had successfully eluded their pursuers, but it appeared that those ment were still relentless in their pursuit.
“What should we do now?” Matthew asked, directing his gaze at Jared. Although Matthew had recovered and Great. Diviner, along with his disciples from Divination Sect, stood by their side, Jared was still concerned. Dealing with the other sects, including Scorching Heaven Sect, would prover to be a formidable challenge for their small group.
Unless Jared summoned and unleashed the beasts once again, they would find it difficult to hold their ground against the opposing sects. After a brief moment of contemplation, he said, “We’ll press on through the night. We’re nearing the location I’m searching for.”
“Mr. Chance, you and the rest should proceed ahead. I’ll stay behind to deal with this traitor,” Great Diviner said to Jared. “We should continue the journey together. It’ll serve no purpose for you to stay behind,” Jared replied.
