The older Little Bean got, the more he looked like Ye Moxuan. Another thought arose in her mind, but she figured it was impossible after some thought.
Han Muzi looked at him and her eyes made Ye Linhan think she was going to acknowledge him. But in the next second, Han Muzi looked away and said indifferently, “Sir, you’ve got the wrong person. I have things to do, so please stop following me.” With that, Han Muzi pushed the shopping cart, pulled Little Bean, and left before his eyes.
Ye Linhan didn’t go after her this time. He just stood there in shock. She still refused to talk to him after he said all that. Did I do something wrong back then?
Ye Linhan was upset. I’ve been thinking about her for the past five years, yet she refused to even acknowledge me. As he thought about this, he quickly went after her.
Han Muzi pushed the shopping cart to the front desk to check out their items while Little Bean followed by her side obediently, holding her purse and helping her with the smaller bags. They soon left the supermarket after paying.
However, someone was following them. It was Ye Linhan. Perhaps because she refused to recognize him, he was unwilling to give up and had been following them since they left the supermarket.
Han Muzi had a straight face on as they walked. Little Bean looked back and carefully pulled Han Muzi’s shirt. “Mommy, that mister has been following us all this time.”
Hearing that, Han Muzi paused slightly, but she did not stop. She bit her lower lips and said, “Little Bean, just ignore him and keep walking.”
“But… do you not know that mister? If you don’t, why is he following us?” Little Bean asked as he looked up.
Han Muzi wanted to ask the same thing. Why is he following me? Doesn’t he know that it’s rude to follow someone around? But she didn’t want to ask him, and so she wouldn’t.
Han Muzi took a deep breath. She knew that her house was not far away. I can’t let Ye Linhan know that I stay here, otherwise, what would I do if he keeps coming to find me?
Just as she was thinking, she happened to see a barbecue shop by the road. “Little Bean, should we have some food after that long shopping spree?”
Little Bean looked up and asked, “But aren’t we going home to cook?”
“It’s okay.” Han Muzi smiled gently. “Having some barbecue won’t affect dinner. We just can’t eat too much. I’m a little tired of walking. What do you say?”
“Okay then.” Little Bean nodded.
The two of them walked into the barbecue shop and the waiter came up to greet them warmly.
Ye Linhan, who was following them, stopped as well. He stood outside of the barbecue shop and looked around. He was a smart man, after all. When he saw that Han Muzi didn’t take a taxi after buying groceries and instead walked with the kid, he could guess that she lived nearby. Now that she walked into a barbecue shop… She probably didn’t want him to know where she lived.
As a man, if he was gentlemanly, he should have left by now, rather than continue following them and make life difficult for them. But… he hadn’t seen her in five years. She is in this city and I managed to run into her. If I just leave… I don’t think I can live with that.
Ye Linhan clenched his fists and hesitated on whether to leave or not. Just then, his phone rang. He took his phone out and answered it, thereafter his face changed. “I see. I’ll be right there.”
After hanging up the phone, Ye Linhan looked at the two of them in the barbecue shop in dissatisfaction. After some thought, he took his pen out, tore a piece of paper, and wrote his phone number on it. He then stepped into the barbecue shop.
When Ye Linhan sat before Han Muzi and her son, her face looked like it was about to freeze. She had a mean look in her eyes. “Sir, I said I don’t know you. What are you trying to do by following me? If you keep disturbing me, I will call the police to solve this issue.”
Ye Linhan looked at her calmly and spoke gently, “I don’t know why you refuse to acknowledge me, but I know you must have your reasons. I won’t force you if you don’t want to tell me, but I’m willing to wait. This is my number. I’ve been waiting for you for the past five years. If you would like to get to know me again, please contact me.” With that, Ye Linhan left the paper with his number on the desk.
Han Muzi’s eyes didn’t move at all and were still cold.
Ye Linhan cleared his throat. “I still have things to do and I won’t disturb you anymore.” With that, he got up and left. But before he left, he took another look at Little Bean, and that gaze was… meaningful.
He then left in a hurry.
“Mommy, this is the mister’s phone number.” Little Bean took the paper over.
“Han Muzi’s face changed as she whispered to her son, “Throw it away.”
“Throw it?” Little Bean blinked. “But why?”
Han Muzi explained to her son patiently, “Little Bean, I don’t want to have anything to do with him, so I don’t need his number. This paper is useless to me, so just throw it away.” She had decided to gradually detach herself from Ye Moxuan so there was no way she would get herself entangled with another member of the Ye Family.
Ye Linhan… I don’t want to have anything to do with the Ye Family.
“Okay.” Little Bean understood what she meant, so he crumpled up the paper into a ball with his tiny hands, and threw it into the bin.
“Good boy.” Han Muzi pinched Little Bean’s cheek and smiled affectionately.
They then had some barbecue and after Han Muzi confirmed that Ye Linhan had left, she paid the bill and brought Little Bean home.
When the two of them walked past an alleyway, a mother cat leaped out from the bushes when it saw Han Muzi, then rubbed against her foot as it meowed.
“Cat!” Little Bean pointed.
“Mm-hmm.” Han Muzi nodded and wanted to bend down to touch it, but she was carrying the groceries. She thought about it and remembered that there was some fish in the bag. “I bought you some fish, but we have to go up first. I will bring it down to you when I’m free later. Go feed your children milk first,” she gently said to the cat.
The cat seemed to understand her and meowed. It then turned around and went back into the bushes.
Han Muzi smiled happily at that. “Good girl.”
“It’s so obedient!” Little Bean exclaimed.
“Well, let’s go back and cook. We’ll take the fish down to them after I’m done cooking.”
