An Understated Dominance Chapter 2228 by Marina Vittori

Aurora’s eyes widened in shock. She touched the blood on her face and looked over at Alicia on the bed, who was coughing up blood.

Kenan and Brian were equally shocked by the sudden turn of events. No one anticipated that after drinking the Enigma Mist, Alicia’s condition would deteriorate.

“Dr. Quake! What… What’s going on?” Brian asked anxiously.

“Dr. Quake! You assured us that the Enigma Mist would bring my sister back from the brink. Why is she coughing up blood now?” Aurora was frantic.

“Don’t worry. It’s just a minor setback. Let me check her again,” Kenan reassured them.

He quickly approached Alicia to take her pulse and frowned. “This is unexpected. Her pulse is weak, and her blood circulation is poor.

“These symptoms suggest poisoning. The Enigma Mist should have detoxified her. But why isn’t it working?

The Enigma Mist was supposed to cure any poison and extend life. Just a sip should have stabilized Alicia’s condition. But this unforeseen reaction left him perplexed.

“Dr. Quake, what’s going on with my sister? Do you truly have the ability to cure her?” Aurora’s expression was a mix of anxiety and fear.

A moment ago, Alicia was fine. But after Kenan removed the silver needles and fed her the medicine, her condition worsened. It raised Aurora’s doubts about Kenan’s medical skills.

“Of course. I can.” Kenan took a deep breath and said calmly, “Although the Enigma Mist didn’t have the desired effect, I have other methods to remove the toxins from her body.”

“Whatever it takes, just cure my sister first!” Aurora urged.

“Don’t worry. My acupuncture technique is highly regarded in the martial world. Handling this case of mild poisoning is a breeze,” Kenan said confidently.

Being known as a miracle doctor wasn’t without reason. If the Enigma Mist didn’t work, he would use silver needles to remove the poison.

“Aurora, don’t worry. With Dr. Quake here, everything will be fine. Just stay calm and don’t distract him,” Brian said.

Aurora nodded upon hearing that. Though anxious, she managed to keep her emotions in check.

“Sanny, bring the silver needles.” Kenan stretched out his hand.

His disciple swiftly understood the gesture. He retrieved a packet of silver needles from the medical kit and laid them out before Kenan.

With a flick of his wrist, Kenan had three needles between his fingers. Then, he precisely inserted them into Alicia’s shoulders and chest.

“Hold her up,” Kenan commanded.

Aurora didn’t hesitate. She quickly propped the unconscious Alicia into a sitting position with her back facing Kenan.

“Pay attention. This technique is called the Styx Passage,” Kenan remarked.

He flicked his wrist as five silver needles appeared between his fingers. The needles shot out and hit Alicia’s neck, back, and waist with precision.

“Again!” he said as he sent five more needles flying toward Alicia.

Every needle hit its mark, which showcased Kenan’s mastery of the technique. Such skill couldn’t be attained without decades of practice.

“Breakthrough!”

After the needles were in place, Kenan used his index and middle fingers to press firmly on the midline of Alicia’s back.

Her body convulsed, and she suddenly spat out a mouthful of dark, clotted blood. It splattered on the wall.

With that, her spasming body gradually returned to normal. Even her lips, once pale, started regaining color.

“Most of the toxins in her body have been cleared out. Keep feeding her the tonic, and I believe she’ll be fine soon,” Kenan said. He wiped the sweat from his forehead, and he looked somewhat tired.

Despite the impressive display, the technique drained him significantly, and it left him with barely any true energy. It would take him at least a few days to recover.

If it hadn’t been necessary, he wouldn’t have resorted to using the Styx Passage technique. However, for now, the results seem promising.

“As expected of Dr. Quake. You’re incredible!” Brian gave him a thumbs- up.

He praised, “I’ve heard about the Styx Passage technique-how it’s said to perform miracles and even bring the dead back to life. Seeing it demonstrated today, it absolutely lives up to its reputation!”

“Bringing the dead back to life might be an overstatement. But as long as the patient is still breathing, I can cure them,” Kenan said with a proud smile.

“You’re too modest. If it weren’t for you, Alicia might not have made it through today.” Brian clasped his hands together and looked at him in admiration.

“Dr. Quake, is she really going to be okay?” Aurora frowned as she looked at Alicia, who was still unconscious.

Alicia’s complexion had improved slightly. But her breathing and pulse remained faint and showed no signs of improvement.

“What? You don’t trust my medical skills?” Kenan sounded displeased.

He put his hand behind his back and continued, “I’ve been in the martial world for so many years. There’s never been a disease I couldn’t cure.

“I can assure you that as soon as she takes another sip of the Enigma Mist, she’ll wake up immediately. If you don’t believe me, try it yourself!”

Summary An Understated Dominance by Marina Vittori

Dahlia Nicholson and Dustin Rhys had been married for three years. After Dahlia’s meteoric rise to success, she abandons the useless dead weight that’s Dustin, proposing divorce. Unbeknownst to her, everything she had ever achieved was only because of him.

Chapter 1 “Dustin, here is the divorce agreement prepared by Ms. Nicholson. All you need to do is sign them.” In the president’s office of the Quine Group, the secretary, Lyra Blaine, placed a piece of A4 paper on the table. A man sat opposite her, dressed in plain clothing. “Divorce? What do you mean?” Dustin Rhys was taken aback. “Do you not understand what I’m saying? Your marriage with Ms. Nicholson is over. You’re not even on the same level anymore. Your existence is nothing but a smear on the president’s reputation!” Lyra pulled no punches as she spoke. “A smear on her reputation?” Dustin frowned. “Is that how she thinks of me?” Back when they first got married, the Nicholson family was in ruinous debt. He was the one who helped them when they were at their lowest point. Now that they were rich, Dahlia Nicholson was ready to just kick him out. “Something like that.” Lyra jerked her chin toward the magazine on the table. A photo of a beautiful woman was printed on the front page. “Look at the headline on this magazine, Dustin. Ms. Nicholson’s net worth has hit one billion in the course of just three years, a feat no short of a miracle. She’s now the most desired woman in Swinton! With all this, she’s destined for greatness. But you, you’re just a regular joe. You don’t deserve her at all. I hope that you’ll see some sense and do the right thing.” When Dustin remained silent, Lyra frowned. “I know you’re not happy with this, but this is reality,” she continued. “You might have helped Ms. Nicholson when she was in trouble, but she has repaid you for everything you’ve done for her over the last three years. In fact, you’re the one who owes her now!” “Is our marriage just a business deal to her, then?” Dustin took a deep breath to suppress the emotions within. “If she wants to divorce me, let her speak to me herself.” “Ms. Nicholson is very busy. She doesn’t need to trouble herself with such trifling matters.” “Trifling matters?” Dustin was stunned. Then he laughed bitterly. “Is that so? Is divorce a trifling matter to her? She can’t even find the time to speak to me. Truly, she’s that unattainable now!” “Dustin, don’t delay this any longer.” Lyra pushed the divorce agreement toward him again. “Just sign here and you’ll get a car and a house as compensation. On top of that, you’ll also get eight million dollars. This is more than what you’ll be able to earn in your lifetime!” “Eight million dollars is a lot, but…I don’t need it. I will sign the divorce papers if she comes personally. Otherwise, I won’t sign anything,” Duston said coldly. “Don’t go too far, Dustin!” Lyra slammed her hand on the table. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. With all her power and resources, Ms. Nicholson can divorce you easily. It’s only because she appreciates her past relationship with you that she’s allowing you to keep your dignity intact. Don’t provoke her!” “My dignity?” Dustin was a little amused by that. She didn’t even want to speak to him directly to divorce him. What kind of dignity was that? Moreover, if she really did appreciate their relationship, then why was she threatening him now?
