Kendricks left with the disciples of Bloodfiery Legion.
Everything was back to normal, at least for now. Once again, Dustin’s unexpected performance became the center of attention.
He had gained some reputation for defeating Marco Alessandro. Now, his reputation grew stronger after he withstood Kendricks’s slash without harm.
Dustin had earned a place in Sacred Wrym Summit, where all the strongest warriors were gathered, with only two battles.
“Thanks for the sword.” Dustin turned and raised his hand with the sword. The sword flew out of his hand and returned to Ruby’s sheath.
Everyone was amazed.
“Dustin! Congratulations!” Miles walked toward Dustin with a smile. ” That was a beautiful strike! To think you could block Kendricks’ blade aura with a sword aura! Fancy that!”
Miles might sound a bit flattering, but he meant what he said. No ordinary warrior could take Kendricks’ attack head-on.1
“Hmph! Good thing my sword is still intact.” Ruby raised her chin as she acknowledged Dustin’s skill for the first time.
She thought Dustin was gone for good when Kendricks released the blade aura. Imagine her surprise when he could block that slash with just a sword. He was amazing!
“Dustin, you’re sure full of surprises! That was eye-opening.” Dalen smiled so beautifully that he looked even more alluring than usual.
Dustin’s spectacular performance had proven that he had an eye for extraordinary warriors. And he was right about Dustin!
“Thanks to Ms. Wesley’s sword, or I might not be able to take that slash,” Dustin said humbly.
In fact, he could take Kendricks’ attack with his bare hands, but that would be too terrifying to the audience, so he borrowed Ruby’s sword to cover his skills.
Since the Combat Tournament had not begun, there might still be some powerful warriors hiding somewhere.
Extensive attention might attract unnecessary trouble. Hence, he preferred to lay low, if possible.
“You’re right about that!” Ruby raised her head and said proudly, “In fact, my sword’s made of grimsteel. It’s way more solid than Kendricks’ tattered blade. You’re alive because you borrowed my sword!”
Kendricks used an ordinary blade, whereas Dustin used a sword made of grimsteel. Thus, Dustin did have a better advantage in terms of weapons.
“Face it, Ruby. We all know Mr. Rhys is alive because of his excellent skills, not your sword,” Crystal chimed in, bursting her bubble without mercy.
Then, she said to Dustin, “Mr. Rhys, even though you’ve resolved the crisis, I’m afraid we haven’t seen the last of the Bloodfiery Legion yet. Someone might frame you so that you and the Bloodfiery Legion will fight each other to the death!”
“I’m well aware of that. Though I’m not afraid of Bloodfiery Legion, I’m not taking the blame for something I didn’t do. If someone tends to frame me, I won’t sit back and wait for it.”
Dustin then threw a meaningful glance at Laurel and Willow.
The two understood his order immediately. They nodded and left.
With Grace’s power and intelligence, she must know what had happened around Sacred Wrym Summit.
Dustin believed he would find out what was going on in no time.
“Dalen! Help, Dalen! Something terrible happened!”
