“Huh?” The crowd was dumbfounded by Dustin’s response and exchanged perplexed glances.
What was going on?
The position of the Prince of West Lucozia was an immensely prestigious role, a supreme authority coveted by countless individuals.
Based on previous successions, they had expected the two brothers to engage in a ruthless struggle for the throne.
Why were things taking such an unexpected turn?
Not only were they not competing for the throne, but they were also willingly relinquishing it. It was as if the throne held no significance to them.
Never in history had they witnessed such an occurrence. At that moment, both Austin’s and Logan’s supporters were frozen in disbelief. They stood there, mouths agape, uncertain of how to react.
While they passionately debated in support of their chosen prince, the brothers were turning away from the throne instead. Was this some kind of joke?
“Logan, didn’t we agree on this? You would take the throne, and I would serve as your general to assist you. Why are you singing a different tune now?” Austin expressed his discontent.
“When did we ever agree on that? I never committed to anything,” Dustin replied indifferently.
He added, “I’m used to a lazy life and don’t like being tied down. The throne is a burden for me. Besides, you have more supporters than I do. It’s more fitting for you to be the Prince.”
“Fitting my foot!” Austin snapped. ” I’m aware of my capabilities. I’m simply not cut out to be the Prince.”
He continued, “But you’re different. You excel in every aspect. You’re the perfect heir, the only one with the ability to inherit the empire our father built.”
“Austin, don’t underestimate yourself. You’re not inferior to me. Given time, you’ll become a great leader. Passing the throne to you is the wisest choice.”
“I don’t care! Anyway, you must become the Prince of West Lucozia!” Austin slammed the table in frustration.
“It’s no use forcing me. I don’t have grand ambitions, noble ideals, or the determination to be the Prince. So, I won’t take the throne.” Dustin shook his head once more.
He had no desire to dominate the world, nor did he want to dedicate himself to the country and its people like his father. He simply wanted to live his own life and walk his own path, unrestrained, enjoying a carefree existence.
“Logan, If you won’t take the throne, then I won’t either. We’ll just leave West Lucozia without a successor!” Austin declared defiantly.
The others were left in shocked silence. Why did it sound like the throne did not represent wealth, power, and prestige? Rather, it seemed like a hot potato that no one wanted.
“If you two spoiled brats don’t want it, you could just give it to me!” Julius’ eyes twitched as he grumbled silently.
He had fought with his life and risked everything to assume the throne. But in the brothers’ eyes, the coveted throne was worthless, and no one was willing to take it.
At that moment, he felt like a clown. His previous efforts had turned into a complete joke.
